Re: TES Skyrim

Having played with Matso's bloom code for a bit, I decided to try forcing it to behave like the exclusion blend mode in photoshop (lowering first pass bloom, e.g. "bloom *= some lower number"), and then compensating by raising EToneMappingOversaturationV2 and contrast to bring back highlights. There's some funky business that goes on with adaption, especially around snow, but I like the overall look. Of course, I may have just done achieved what I originally had in a more convoluted way...

Also, if anyone is familiar with the anamorphic functions that Matso wrote, do you know how to get the flare to render so that it doesn't stretch completely across the screen? Is there a way to make it taper slightly? Right now it kind of looks ugly compared to the regular ENB lens effect.

This has got to be one of the most gorgeous images I've ever seen. You have got to be kidding me that you didn't go ape-shit with glee when you shot this yourself?

I'm going to go lie down now for a little bit... Cry a little maybe.

And trillville, is this what you're after for the anamorphic flare? Because I didn't like it stretching all over the screen myself.

You can do all sorts of crazy things with it. At one point I had a mirror image of the entire screen overlayed in part over the rest. You can also get ghosty afterimages of light of a sorts...

dpeasant wrote:Modding weather in skyrim is far more slower and annoying than in GTA4. Hell, each weather has day, sunset, sunrise, night setts and each has hell amount of important stuff. There are even 28 layers of clouds that has to be edited separately. Each weather has its imagespace, oh, well. It would be 100% easier to mod it if i could just make template weather and copy it all over original weathers and then edit it according to my goal. But thats not possible cause of the Form ID assigned to all weathers. The only way is to make completely new climate pattern that will ignore old weathers and use only modded, but i dont want to mess with that stuff.
That's the exact reason why I took a break from making my custom weather. And after accidentially deleting my .esp and only having an old backup I lost my motivation entirely. But I think I'll start working on it soon anyway. Your changes look fantastic by the way, fits the fantasy atmosphere of your setts very well.

@Midhras
I sort of figured out how to minimize the big blue streaks across the screen, but in the end I ditched the feature for simplicity's sake. Also, it looks a little too sci-fi for my taste. Generally, I associate heavy lens flare with Mass Effect and 80s B-movies. Skyrim, I think, deserves a bit more dignity. Also, see below...

@flabbergasted
Thanks! Check the link in my sig. You'll want to download the .113 d3d9 wrapper from here first and put it in your root Skryim directory. Then overwrite with my files and be sure to enable RevampedExteriorFog.esp in the game launcher.
Also, check that bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 in Skryimprefs.ini, otherwise ENB won't render correctly.

The letterbox is disabled by default. To enable it all you need to do is go into enbeffect.fx and remove the "//" in front of "#define HD6_VIGNETTE"

SSAO, complex shadows, sun rays and depth of field are all enabled by default, which might be a drain on performance. If you want to change your resolution, you'll need to adjust the enbeffectprepass.fx file to reflect the changes (default DoF code assumes you run the game at 1920x1080). Just find this line "float2 fvTexelSize = float2(1.0 / 1920.0, 1.0 / 1080.0)" and input the new resolution.

You should play with the stuff in enbseries.ini to find the optimal settings. Everyone's monitor is different so fine-tuning on your own will produce the best results.

One final note: I'd advise using Skyrim's built-in FXAA or SMAA or both instead of MSAA. For some reason MSAA interferes with SSAO rendering and makes depth textures look strange.
Hope that covers the basics. Have fun and thank Boris for his incredible work on ENB :)

i downloaded the enb replaced the files with your ones, thing is ...i can't seem to activate the renderer from the launcher as you say, do i just put the Wrapper Folder in the skyrim directory or the files in the wrapper folder in the skyrim directory?

also i'm using NMM for my mods...do i have to make a custom launch command (if so how, sorry i'm a right nuub) or will the mods be perma activated after installed?

also i can't seem to find the line 'bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 ' in skyrimpref ini file...

ty again
