Re: TES Skyrim

Mindflux: Your enb looks fantastic, really love the lighting in the dungeon. Any particular texture or just good lighting? I'm working on updating my textures as haven't done much with it since early this year so had to ask as on my downloading spree atm ;) And no real clue exactly what makes mine 'pop' either as think its a lot of little things and just try to hide the less interesting bits ;) Wish I knew exactly what it is as would keep me from messing it up at some point.

Cruncher: When are you going to finish your enb so we can try it out? The lighting and color on your character is always gorgeous (nothing else adequately describes it).

Boris: Great work, seems to have ironed out most of my issues at least (granted just one of many, but definitely can tell a huge difference from first 114).

Downloaded Parallax for Solitude (and others--but adding them in after this) so had to test it out a little. Think I need to lighten up my shadows back to how I had them...

Re: TES Skyrim

Decided to try uploading my settings for the first time: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20455. As of now I'm the only person to have used it so not sure how it will handle for anyone else (its not exactly a 'performer' for me but not too unbearable--shadows are main kicker but not that much worse than most for me). No clue how to tweak performance really and I'm sure some of the settings might be 'wrong' as understanding of 'how' things work is rather low. I had to use a lot of patience and trial and error to figure out anything (and a few looks at tips/guides of course but seeing how it works is better for me).

Not sure if my occasional glitches are due to mods, enb settings, or whatever else it might be (very random and haven't noticed any particular conditions so hard to track down). 3 of note though: Lighting will sometimes 'flare' and become overly bright/colorful and have to restart the game, at others multicolored geometry (triangles usually) decide to 'attack' the screen and is usually location specific (not in terms of same locations--which would be an easier to try to troubleshoot but they seem to be rooted to a 'origin point' when it happens and are temporary once you leave the area), as well as some flickering textures at times (not sure if enb or texture related). But as I said not sure 'how' some things work so some things might just be being caused by settings so wouldn't mind someone that can actually understand what things do to take a look if they have the time--would be much appreciated.

Also, to my knowledge, I am not using any other mods/fxaa besides Further Darker Dungeons (just enabled it again tonight) so would suggest disabling any injectors first and I'll double check all my files to be sure (I've downloaded/installed enough loose files since release its just hard to be 100% sure of anything). Using tons of textures though and more to come ;) Skyrim HD and now Parallax the main ones though.

And a few new screens again:

mindflux wrote:@DogStar: Tell me about it. I'm struggling with the snowy areas too, and I'm beginning to doubt whether it's even possible to make them workable in specific configurations. Adaptation sure does help with brightness, but like you said, then everything easily becomes too dark and looks yuck. It's indeed a great balancing act.

You did already fiddle with HD6's own controls, right? This part, in enbeffect.fx:

Code: Select all

float toobright = max(0,tex2D(_s2, _v0).xyz - 0.4); // 0.5
	color.xyz *= 1-(1.0 * toobright); // 1.3
No!... are can't find it, let alone fiddle with it

I'll take a closer look, but to be honest I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've upped Subsurfacescattering which has brightened the snow a bit, but its still adaptation that causes the headache... the quest continues :)

Re: TES Skyrim

Thanks all - glad you liked. My ENB is coming, but first I want to make sure it's exactly as I want to.

@eldyraen: Great to see you got your setup up and running, always a great moment! And thanks, no special tricks going on I guess - I think it's just a matter of my carefully balanced setup. I think I'm now using dungeon textures from the official high resolution pack supplemented from a couple of ones from Realistic Overhaul (here). I'm also using my own Dark Dungeons to prevent the nights from going too dark. As for tweaking, one thing I've learned is that when making changes, ALWAYS go back if you can't exactly pinpoint what happened or if you're not sure whether you like the change or not. I've ruined many setups by just manically adjusting values and not thinking.

@DogStar: Right then, those controls will solve your adaptation problem as HD6 used quite heavy static adaptation, probably because of his intense bloom. It's really a matter of preference, but I usually go and adjust the toobright multiplier on the second row, underlined here: color.xyz *= 1-(1.0 * toobright); // 1.3. Reduce the value to lower adaptation strenght, as simple as that.

Thank you x 1000 :D I would never have found that, or known what to do if I had... I just chucked a random lower number in and its already an improvement, although too dark... so I just need to find the sweetspot now.

What a cool bunch of people here :)

That character reminds me of the emperor from Star Wars :)

Damn, now that you mentioned he sure does remind of the Emperor...

No worries, hope you got the problem sorted out! :D

Re: TES Skyrim

I will be doing an ENB comparison thread here and on the official forums. If you want your ENB as part of the comparision, let me know.

@Mindflux - If you can finish your ENB over the weekend, that would be awesome! I really want to add it.
