Re: Fallout 4

The problem is that Bethesda's world design hasn't really changed. They still make worlds with heightmap terrain and big rocks or broken earth meshes to break up the monotony, grass sprayed on top and the occasional plant with flat textured branches stuck on. I don't think it has any skylighting either, so the lighting is flat outside of AO. It doesn't help that there aren't really any good environment mods out. The engine still doesn't really seem to handle vegetation well, unlike some modern stuff coming out. At least it can have specular now (right?), but it's mostly disabled; I was using a mod that added proper grass, but it only looked nice with the original post processing because it was far darker than everything else. It turned out that the author had disabled specular lighting on the materials because it would make weird highlights at different angles.

Re: Fallout 4

Hi All! I just released my next Ojo Bueno texture for Fallout 4, the 'HAM 3000' Radio. I made a brief video about the mod, which you can see below, and you can grab the mod on the Nexus here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18836/?

Thank you for your consideration! :)

Re: Fallout 4

Hi All! I just uploaded a new 'Woodgrain Edition' to the 'Optional Files' section, taking inspiration from Classic Game Room and the Intergalactic Space Arcade ... I hope Lord Karnage would be proud :)

Hi All!

For your consideration: a brief overview of the new features added to ENB 0.307 for Fallout 4 in a recent 'silent' update Boris made to the mod. These include improved ambient occlusion quality, and a new hotkey to toggle the depth of field effect on its own.

Thanks for putting that vid up. I never really noticed that SSAO thing untill I saw it.... I always thought it was just a part of the normal shadowing FX. One of my other hobbies is amateur astronomy. This very same effect is visible IRL. Sometimes called 'light leakage', it's what goes on when light comes into a darker area from outside a shadow. Part of the reason pro photographers use big reflectors to bounce light onto a subject. It's also visible during solar eclipses, because you are basically inside the moon's shadow, or a part of it. Speaking of which..... wouldn't THAT be one hell of an effect to pull off in a game?

FYI, there is a mod just released called No Camera Filters that turns off some DOF FX in a number of different situations.
