What Indigo said is true. Note that most posting shots here will position scenes to avoid the issue, it exists. What affects it most is the iBlurDeferredShadowMask setting in SkyrimPrefs. The higher the value the more pronounced the halo effect. Unfortunately, the higher the value the softer the shadow edges which is to my liking so I guess we all live with it and do our best to ignore it.

I read you manual IndigoNeko and it's amazing, Boris should use it for his website.. ahahah

Agreed, good manual, learned quite a bit.

As to your other questions Indigo, too early still although I have to say that I love the f-stop and manual focus aspects you provide, very useful especially when wanting to focus on a part of the scene that is not center using DOF. Might be interesting if f-stop also affected amount of light on the scene. Taking the photography aspect further, you could include ISO as well, lol. I coded a simple grid of thirds to overlay the scene that helps to line up shots a bit more.

I have not tried any of the other features as of yet.

Presets are great for those that want to pick and go, I like to tinker so not so much for me. My current enbeffect is a mishmash of different code including your HSV and Bloom code at the moment.

@IndigoNeko @Dinkledorf

Thanks very much for the advice. I tried what you suggested and it seems to have worked for the most part so the issue is far less noticable.

Do you have any advice for the weird striped shadows that sometimes are cast on a character's face? I believe from the self shadowing cast by hair etc. It once again only occurs in specific lighting circumstances but if there's anything I can do to lessen the effect that would also be appreciated!

The other question I had was what sort of Anti-Aliasing are we using through NvidiaInspector, or what NvidiaInspector settings do you all use if any to enhance ENB or be compatible with ENB?

Thanks again! Awesome ENB config Indigo and very handy guide for learning all the INI parameters for new people. It's a must read!

I am mostly guessing but it seems the values depict average brightness of the scene. Higher values mean brighter and lower, well ... darker. Therefore with these settings you are identifying the threshold points of brightness when ENB will identify night from day. The curve parameter I believe affects the amount of lerp'ing that is done between the two and will affect how quickly night turns to day and vice versa. This is one of the reasons that dark stormy days will trick ENB into believing its night.

Typical settings are usually in the following ranges:

DetectorLevelDay=0.65 - 75
DetectorLevelNight=0.15 - 35
DetectorLevelCurve=1.0 - 2.0 (I believe lower values will result in a more abrupt transition as I once set it to 0.2 and day turned into night instantly)

This is based on my experience with a variety of ENB configs. Mine are 0.65 and 0.25 respectively, which if my guess above is correct means that:

It is day when the average "brightness" of the screen reaches 65% of maximum or higher and it is Night when it reaches 25% of maximum or lower.

DetectorLevelCurve determines the transition "steps" between the two.

Like I said, kinda guessing here. I set mine as indicated above a long time ago and kinda left it be.

Thanks Dinkledorf!

I'm finding this whole issue really frustrating. I'll increase AmbientLightingCurveNight to darken shadows at night, but then the shadows in a particular daytime scene will darken too ... What is strange is, daylight values also work IN THE SAME SCENE ... So does that means enb is reading the scene as both day AND night?

I tried messing with DetectorLevels but no matter what I do, changing say, DirectLightingIntensityNight or AmbientLightingCurveNight also change those values during the day ...

Has no one else run into this issue?

Actually Day and Night can be and are active at the same time during specific situations, twice a day at least.

Under "normal" circumstances, Day starts to poke its head through around 6am and is in full force by around 8 or 8:30. Likewise, night starts having an impact around 6pm and is in full force by about 8:30pm. During these transition periods, both Day and Night are active and their corresponding settings will affect the scene (i.e. DirectLightDay, DirectLightNight). The transition is typically smoothly progressive from one state to the other over a period of about 2 game hours.

As mentioned in my previous post, certain weather conditions will trick ENB into believing Night is setting in (dark storm for example), in which case Day and Night will interact as above. ENB does not use game time as a measure for Day/Night.

Personally, I do as follows:

1. Tweak general Day settings on a clear sunny day between the hours of 10am and 4pm
2. Tweak general Night settings on a clear night between hours of 10pm and 4am
3. Fine tune after that for specific conditions but avoid making large changes

If you are like me, 1 and 2 above will take not that much time but 3 will last forever, lol. Its a balancing act and compromises will need to be made. Settings that look great in one situation will not be ideal for another. Note that I tweak for gameplay and not for screenshots. If I were tweaking for screenshots then I would likely have an arsenal of various configs specific for each "basic" type of lighting situation and then finalize the tweak before taking the shot, lots of work.

Some quickly taken Dishonored shots, I know it's not a skyrim but it's quite good looking game with an interesting art style.
And some BF3 AK vistas to compare them to Skyrim's mountains.

Screenshots always looks better Boris :P and on a serious note, I am playing this game with downsampling (3360x2100 to 1680x1050) and custom FXAA injector settings at constant 60 fps, no wonder it's Unreal engine 3 :) with pre-baked shadows, SSAO and lighting, I tried to force Nvidia SSAO and it was hard to notice because of in game pre-computed SSAO effect and in some places the only way you can see Nvidia SSAO it's an artifacts from it or on dynamic objects like characters and so on, but this game still manages to look quite good. reminds me of Rage somehow.

And my two new Skyrim chars shots, what can I do I love portrait shots because like in real life almost always draw portrait stuff.

This is low quality of sun texture and after increasing it's intensity (or/and gamma curve) by one of these parameters in enbseries.ini:
SunIntensity
SunCoronaIntensity
SunCoronaCurve
you have that issue. The best solution is to find sun texture and blur it Photoshop, then save as dds or some other format which game read, but as uncompressed rgba 32 bit, not dxt1-5.
