Forum e-mail notifications

Is there a way to receive e-mail notifications when one of the topics I posted is updated? I tried to set it on the control panel, but couldn't find such an option.

Any reasons for that choice?

Because my hosting have a limit of e-mails sent per day and i can't afford higher price hosting plan, because it'a also less friendly for web developers (i need to worry about attacks and server functioning by myself).
