Re: TES Skyrim 0.198
Ok Boris, I'm looking into other reasons for my CTDs since VRAM overusage isn't the cause, but I'd still like to know if it would be worth it to upgrade from EVGA GTX 670 FTW 2GB to a 4GB version, considering I'd still like to add several more mods and I'm already hitting my max at 2GB.

I don't think that only for this game you need additional 2 gb at very much cost. Whatever you buy, will not be enough memory ever, because of mods. Better wait till i make version for x64 systems, it will have some stuttering when cells loading, but it's much better and cheaper solution which really good for future of this game.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.198
I did a similar upgrade when my GTX 670 2gb fried on me. I had the MSI GeForce N670GTX-PM2D2GD5/OC 2GB and now the Asus GeForce GTX670-DC2-4GD5 4GB.
The difference wasn't that big but it was noticeable, I can't remember any numbers of before and after but it made it possible for me to activate all effects, set the quality settings to the best quality available and use 1.0 (and higher) for the scales in both reflections and SSAO. And I have a stable 35+ average FPS with that. I think it's at that level, memory deceives me for the moment

Re: TES Skyrim 0.198
My FPS is between 58-65 currently with VRAM maxed at 2048mb (which is what my GPU is), with about 140 mods and practically high settings without AA. If I downloaded more, it wouldn't crash my game, only lower the FPS, correct? My RAM used to be at like 2800-3000, and now sits at about 700 only thanks to ENB. But since VRAM doesn't crash the game when maxed it should only reduce FPS if I raise the settings or download more mods?--JawZ-- wrote:I did a similar upgrade when my GTX 670 2gb fried on me. you should NOT load more than your VRAM. Think about it how can it draw/render if it doesnt load into the VRAM/Max out.tgpomy wrote:My FPS is between 58-65 currently with VRAM maxed at 2048mb (which is what my GPU is), with about 140 mods and practically high settings without AA. tgpomy;
Ok, if you can run with these settings with a 50-55 average FPS in riverwood than there is no point in you buying the 4GB version, instead save the money and wait until you can afford a faster gfx card with 4GB instead.

I got about 45-50 FPS. Would it be worth buying a GTX 680 FTW 4GB? I found one for $420 used.--JawZ-- wrote:tgpomy;

Re: TES Skyrim 0.198
With a 680 in Skyrim you would gain around 10 to 15 FPS, maybe more. At least it's a more reasonable upgrade, I only went from 670 2gb to 4gb as I sold the returned and fixed 2gb card to my brother and I needed a new card as I did not have any other laying around.
