Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

Great work Boris your latest update fixed it all. underwater looks amazing with a few parameter tweaks. Just need to modify some tints in ck and i'm set.

The only thing that would make the water perfect now would be a better transition when getting out from underwater to surface. Do you think there's anything you can do about it?

Gona be glorious when you do underwater caustics and sun rays. Can't wait to see that.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

It is astonishing that Just Cause 2 had the best water/underwater effect I have met in a video game yet.
It was released 2010? When these guys release the third part, will we encounter new standards?

Much and big thanks to Boris, for this great ENB release for Skyrim.
I really admire the incredible palette of colors enb does magically put on my screen when playing Skyrim.
The whole game looks and tastes more like a fresh PS4 release.
But with my 460GTX and 1680x1050 resolution, there is no way playing it in 25fps.
Usually outside I get 12 - 20 fps, with an average of 15. Without like 40+ fps.

I have never seen such vibrant, fine shaded colors in a video game as in Skyrim with ENB.
Thank you Boris. I wish I could do more at the moment.

However, I have a question. Why is my framerate dropping so dramatically from 40+ to 15 when I do enable ENB.
I use the Full Quality Realvision Option B preset, though I would prefer Seasons of Skyrim, if it was already updated to 0.236 enb.
Does ENB use a lot more VRAM, so my 1GB gets slowed down heavily, or is it just pure shader cylces what makes enb so slow?

Those two conditions hate each other and will make your day bad.

Don't think external shaders can do something.

Underwater surface don't use scene depth data for any purposes, while upper water use it (for deepness f.e.). I added code which compute fading as distance factor between object above water (walls of the pool, character body above water partially, etc) and this code was used to make a bit less annoying hard edge of the water. The problem is that computed fading factor multiplied by summ of heights from displacement (alpha channel of textures*scaling factors from water properties), the result of this multiplication by some reason make entire water surface "faded" - no reflection, no refraction, no coloring, just image of the scene above water surface. I don't have issue myself, but can only guess that's wrong factors of water textures mixing (negative?), because of water mods or it's something in weather setup, i'm not competent in native modding.

Is it really worth all this effort to get underwater to look good?

I mean how often when playing Skyrim do you spend time under water?

Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

Love the new water stuff!

Sad that I cannot use most of it unless I am doing screenshots! Need a bigger card! Someday!

Only persistent issue I have atm. is that the shallow water looks really bright during the night, even more so when water shadows are enabled. I doubt it has anything to do with ENB specifically, since it depends on the weather and hence imagespaces. But would be nice to know if anybody else have had issues with it on their presets, and how they dealt with it.

New water stuff is great.

Issue I ran into, and maybe I'm just noticing it and everyone else already knows, but when I enable softparticles and look at a word wall, the letters aren't very visible. If I disable softparticles, the the letters pop into view. Known issue? Not? I'm on craq again?

Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

Version updated, download again.
Performance of underwater shadows increased by reducing their precision, used too much samples previously. Removed some dependencies between water and underwater parameters, so turning both effect individually have much less impact on each other.
Also i got statistics of helper plugin downloads as factor of water popularity for users, don't see any sense to work on water any more, probably this is the latest version with water modification.

narphous
I will not do anything to soft particles, because it's unfixable.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

With the newest upload, just downloaded a hour ago, I get a short blackscreen again when going underwater.
Just in the transition movement, before char is fully underwater, enb shows short black screen, and then underwater view is applied.
I think this bug was sorted out with patch 1.6, so the underwater view doesnt show a clear, unblurred view while in transition,
and just then fully underwater it goes blurred.

Sorry. :|

Re: TES Skyrim 0.236

Yes it is true water does not involve gameplay.
Still the water improvements are very much appreciated. It was the only thing remaining that looked bad bad bad.
There are many screenshot artists around and they will like all the water features more than anyone.

TAA improvement next !!!!!!!!!
