I get it both in and out of tfc mode. And yeah, no matter what I say in the ini's, the game forces me to choose sdp13. When I swap in sdp17, no difference.

so if you rar your savegames and delete your ini files the game chooses 013 ??

you have to do it like that cause if you keep your ini files the game doesn't redetect your vidcard properly in the renderinfo.txt file.

i had a Nvidia gtx275 when i just bought Fallout 3 and i can remember it chose 015

I don't see why I should zip up my saves, but I'll give it a go. I understood changing your ini's and deleting the rendererinfo.txt would force the launcher to redetect settings, but I'll retry.

Also, during some times of day, I don't get any shadows at all. I'm now playing during dusk, and the game has stopped rendering shadows at all, no matter what camera angle.
It seems I'll not have shadows between 6:20PM and 6:20AM. That means that for a large part of dawn and dusk: no shadows, and no shadows at night.

i mean zip the entire settings dir, i Always do that and the i throw the unzipped files in the bin and start a new game, that way you know for sure the game starts fresh.
the most important thing is deleting the ini files indeed.

changing the ini files won't work, cause the sD3DDevice="AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series" is still referring to your card.

nobody has shadows at night, cause there is no sun to cast shadows.
Boris derives shadows from sunlight, atleast i think so cause i have no shadows at night either.
You could have shadows at night if the night sunlight value is set bright like in New Vegas, cause for the game engine night sunlight is moonlight.
so you actually have shadows at night but very very faint.

and between 11.00 AM and 1.00 PM the sun is right on top of you, so the sun is "loodrecht" on top of you resulting in small top down shadows.

so everything is working correct with me, i only wish the shadows where longer like in real life, they are very pointy and thus rather short because the virtual distance of
the sun in the game is not so far as the real distance of our sun.
Sad thing is, even if i get better at shader programming i could never device a routine to correct that cause it's in the ENB core, and not alterable.

Of course you're right about the night time shadows, I just never noticed that they disappear the moment the sun hits the horizon...

But yeah, whatever I try, my game will always select sdp13. Forcing 15 will crash my game in exteriors (not interiors). I'll just randomly check a couple to see if the behaviour abates, but I'm starting to suspect it's not binary related, but ENB shaders related. Maybe it's something to do with my files...

OK, well then the Tweakguides.com guy must be in error about the sdp013 being 3.0 i guess.
Maybe i can find some correct info on those shaders somewhere.
I'll try to search some later today.

it must be something in your setup indeed, hope you find out..

i just copied my shaderdir from new vegas into fo3 and all was fine again.

I'll zip up my ENB sometime later this weekend and maybe you can see if you get the same issue using that. Could be hardware/driver related.

Hello Boris and friends,

Thanks to a lot of help from Queue, another user of this forum and the Nexus, I finally found out what was causing my crash to desktop with the original .237 ENB that you uploaded. Your code is all good but this latest version clashes with the K_FPS.dll from the Game Booster utility!

I never considered that crapware because it helps freeing the most system ressources possible, by terminating unnecessary processes and services in windows so games have more ressources available. Inside the latest versions from Game Booster there is a utility that lets you measure your FPS, however I never used it, I even turned it off because I knew that it would create an overlay that could possibly conflict with the ENB software I use the ENB FPS counter instead, but it seems the related .dll loads by default, even if you disable the FPS counter inside Game Booster! And this .dll conflicts somehow with the original .237 ENB for Fallout and New Vegas that you uploaded. So by terminating the Game Booster TSR icon in the system tray and then running Fallout with your original .237 with modified shader code it doesn't crash but runs flawlessly!

Since Game Booster is rather popular amongst gamers I bet that people crashing with the .237 experience the same .dll conflict I had, so by disabling Game Booster it should work as intended!

So good news, Boris code is absolutely not the cause of the crashes, which I never assumed in the first place since it worked for others, but it's Game Booster, I'm also going to write a feedback mail to the developpers to point them to this crash, since ENB becomes more and more popular if enough people do this, they should do something about it and make their new update compatible!

So Boris, I hope this is good news for you and again many thanks to Queue who found the cause, I would have never resolved this issue without him

Don't waste your time on writing something to developers, software like that is just a fake for casual users, you can't get performance gain from it greater than errors of measuring. These tools just speculating on incompetence of users regarding things how OS works or simply produce fake results to simulate higher fps. Their goal is to earn money or make botnet. Anyway thanks for information, i'll update version again.

I don't see shadow issues in Fallout 3, so can't fix them. Shadows at night do not work, because sun is not drawed and i'm using it's direction for shadows, of course if weather don't have sun, then shadows are not rendered.
