Re: TES Skyrim 0.120 beta

Opethfeldt

You are right about that, but once I decreased AO amount a bit compared to my 0.119 amounts, it was OK.
I focused on geometry first, exactly what you are talking about.
I don't know if grass can be solved, but I think we will always have downsides....
What I think is, overall, I really prefer 0.120 because its increase in quality makes me forget that grass thing...
Sure that some things will depend on game's normal maps, and apparently Bethesda made same mistakes as always with it (inverted channels, etc...)

Good luck Boris ! What I say is that if there are more improvements than downsides, it's OK ;) 100% perfect can't be achieved anyway....

Re: TES Skyrim 0.120 beta

Just want to say about the problem someone was having a few pages back where large chunks of shadow would pop in and out abruptly, based on camera angle - I've had this happening a bit too, and I'm using .119 still. In fact, I think it was happening with .117 as well. I haven't been intensely troubleshooting it, but I think it's either due to a shadow mod (specifically, something that adds dynamic shadows), or it's just a recently-introduced game bug.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.120 beta

I like the new 0.120 SSAO. Apart from the screenshots i posted 2 page before, everything else looks good. I do not notice much problem with grasses, i did not check all grass type. Only those at outskirts of Whiterun.

And that problem in screenshot was also visible in old 0.117 as far i can remember. 0.119 does not have this at all.
I looked around almost all over Skyrim and Dawnguard areas. Seems like that problem happens only in Whiterun. Other places are OK.

Overall i like 0.120 . I use the recently released Project Matso ENB kyo variant. And i edit the SSAO part to my insane config i posted earlier. Looks awesome.

Boris, about reflection, yes it would be fun indeed. But if it is messed up so much for Skyrim give it a pause and work on SSAO optimization. What about more complex sunray system? How is that part progressing?

I suspended development of complex rays, thought that ideas will came to mind later (how to fix issues with sun direction and shadow direction), but nothing.

Reporting an issue (I am using 0.120, but the issue has been present for pretty much ever) wherein the specularity of a surface changes depending on angle.

Here are some images to demonstrate.

ENB OFF: 1 2

ENB ON: 1 2

Another pair from farther away... both pics are with ENB on. The difference is solely in viewing angle: 1 2

Re: TES Skyrim 0.120 beta

I'm not using any parallax mods, but I looked at the config (I'm using Phinix Natural) and it turns out that the parallax fix was enabled. I disabled it and went back to check again, and that seems to solve the problem :)

Re: TES Skyrim 0.120 beta

@Boris :
are you talking about the SSAO for 0.120 TESV on your main page, saying performance is 3 times faster on your PC ?
