Oyama
Im glad to hear that.
Where we can find you then ?

Do you plan to upload your preset here, to "users files" maybe ?

Re: TES Skyrim 0.244

Well, when it'll be time to reupload something somewhere, I'll do and you'll know. Do count on me. ;)
For now, I'm waiting to see where Boris is going, since I can hear his brain working from Russia to France :D

EDIT : all that being said, call me crazy, but I find a biiiiit noise remaining in SSAO can be very interesting, rendering wise. I came to the conclusion it sort of " dries " the image, allowing for razor-sharp details on some parts. And, while I'm off-topic, I'd die to try a non-clamped-scales version of the algorythm, just to experiment with it. I have some GPUs to kill
This is pretty problematic you shouldn't forget you applying this on compressed content of course the noise can have a positive effect same as it has a possitive effect on avoiding banding skyrim content analysis i made showed that some Mod authors even convert normalmaps to 16 bit and this can endup in some heavy banding.

Blur is also not the evil @ all it depends always on the balance of how much blur is induced in the other parts of the rendering and how this amplifies everything, if you have some balanced effect like the fake fog for example and you add more blur on the whole frame it will get odd same for everything else like the SSS which is very problematic.
In the contrary i personaly find most ENBs are way to Sharp in their overall balance creating fake detail where never detail was before, and they don't have to oversharping the input data @ all for this ;)

spadesage wrote:Question: how in the bajeezus do I get the time-of-day to register correctly? As in, what numbers/ checkboxes in the TimeOfDay/ NightDay sections need to be present to get it to show the correct lighting for the time of day (and are there other things that need to be set up as well)?
I'm a complete "noob" at ENB, but I am quite familiar with coding and the like, so I sorta get how it works overall. It's just irritating that at 10:30 AM game-time it's pitch-black outside and the crickets are a-chirping (it almost seems to behave lighting-wise in reverse- as though night is daytime and day is nighttime). o.O

For reference, the current settings I have for Time of Day & Night/Day are as follows:
TIMEOFDAY: Enable=true DawnDuration=1.3 SunriseTime=6.55 DayTime=13.0 SunsetTime=18 DuskDuration=2.0 NightTime=1.0
NIGHTDAY: DetectorOldVersion=true DetectorDefaultDay=false DetectorLevelDay=0.65 DetectorLevelNight=0.25 DetectorLevelCurve=1.0
(Those are the settings for MACHIIMACHII's Saraan Suum ENB, but I'm using them with the Poupouri/ Morning Star ENB: both are by the same person-- I like the visual effect of 'Morning Star', but wanted the ToD effect from the other. I wanted to change the NightTime to 22, but saw no difference at all visually, so I set it back to what it was originally.)

I did manage to get a kind-of-but-not daytime effect by changing the "NightTime" number to 10.3-ish... which makes little sense to me (given that the max. number for each setting is 24, so I thought the thing used "military time"... and figured 22 would be an ideal number for the onset of "true" night).

So... what do I need to do to get the time-of-day to behave correctly? And would changing the time ratio (default for Skyrim is 10 game minutes per real-time minute; mine's set to 5 game minutes per real-time minute) affect how this works?
...Or is it just easier to try and find another preset that works and is more up-to-date (my current one is no earlier than November 2013- did it need to be even newer to work?)? And if so, where would I find one? 'Cause I can't seem to find any here or on the Nexus that are regularly updated. :S
In the [Environment] section there are some ambient filter settings, and ambient color settings, that are separated from the rest. They will have color adjustments (easiest seen while using ingame editor). Try setting sunrise to an orange-ish color, filter in a percentage and watch as color drowns the land.

Why do you close your K ENB page on Nexus ?
If you dont have the time to support it, you dont have to.
I know you are retired, but there is no reason to lock the page.

Sorry about offtopic, Boris.

Off-Top
Too many reasons that I don't have to talk about, especially here. ;)
And I see no reasons to unlock it.
My interest in Boris's work is far beyond the fake popularity of Nexus and I have other ideas I didn't apply yet.
Time. I didn't retire from ENB shaders coding or from tweaking, I have too much passion for that. I retired from Nexus.
On a side note, try uploading an ENB setup with twisted shaders on Nexus, and giving no support.... Enjoy
Trying anything new on Nexus ends up, most of time in "why did you that ?", "why don't you make a realistic preset ?", "why the fuck my game won't start ?", and so....

End off-top
I totally get what you mean.... the popularity of many mods... it's a joke. For example: "mod name" + "HD" = profit.
My eyes hurt when i see what enb's are the most popular on the Nexus....

Hmm yeah especially most ENBs are developed with Screenarchery in Mind but only 0.2% are developed with Gameplay in mind and from that 0.2% only the fewest having a good Gameplay Experience that is well balanced in all situations ;)

glad i can count mine as Gameplay preset ;)

I have a gain of about 4 FPS with Vividian ENB and 0.244 Boris! Really awsome performance boost you gave there!
...and now, raytracing !

Re: TES Skyrim 0.244

I absolutely disagree about the screenarchery / gameplay opposition since it's related to each one's rig capabilities.
Reminds me about the " ENB are good for screenshots " times. Made me sick each time.

Also, i think that an ENB preset looking good in all situations is impossible since vanilla itself doesn't look good in all situations. ENB can't save all Bugthesda's crap, even considering the fact it kicked Skyrim right in a new era.

I agree 100%. I used to have a lower-mid end rig and I absolutely couldn't run an ENB above 20fps, most of the time more like 10-15 (K ENB in particular comes to mind). I've improved my hardware and now I'm using Kountervibe Extensive for CoT Weatherpatch and I almost never drop below 35 fps (ok, water can still kill me).

However, I think some presets are more oriented toward screenarchery than play IN MY OPINION. Case in point, Somber. It's a great ENB, I can run it fine, but I just don't like playing with it. I just don't like it. However many screenshots taken with it I think look GREAT. This is a personal taste issue though because I know many people, including those here, do like playing with that particular preset, so now I've ventured into aesthetics and not the technical anymore and the technical is where the gameplay/screenarchery argument dichotomy originates from.
