Well, to be honest it's more like tiresome. Some of you guys are like spoiled kids going after one toy after another.
I mean sure, some cool effects like motion blur, tessellation or whatever the latest buzz is that everyone raves about are all nice and dandy, but they're really just icing on the cake when compared to stuff like SSAO, SSIL and Sky Lighting that are really the foundation of everything in regards to realistic lighting. I'm not against new effects per se, but turning on motion blur or whatever is not going to make the game look any better, it's just an unrealistic fake camera imitation.

Yep Motion blur is not required. It never looks good in anything but driving games or video games which involves high speeds and rapid movement. In Crysis 2 I even found it was limiting the quality of the gameplay by blurring the screen for every 180 degree turn. I guess it can be changed to work better with Skyrim but it's not the next "Must have" post process effect.mindflux wrote:Well, to be honest it's more like tiresome. Boris, no reason to get rude instantly! He just asked because you mentioned that you experimented with motion blur. And I was interested in that too because I like motion blur if it's done right.

I know. But users lazy to think themselves that if it's not done, then it's impossible, complex or buggy. I'm not mother tereza and not bethesda.

IMHO, let's forget motion blur as well....
You recently talked about adding some IL to Skylighting effect, did you skip this idea for performance reasons, Boris ?

Re: TES Skyrim 0.149
Let him experiment with water shaders for a while like he mentioned recently. We all want that too right?
Lets not force Boris to do something that he dislikes.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.149
Sky lighting (except it's bug with brightness some time) is simple and any changes to it only decrease performance, so i don't want it to modify now. The idea to sample data from blurred sky is failed, because haven't found method to detect occluders when something huge is above you and at same time it's exterior (or when you are in the ruins of castle or in the level like makareth or how it's called with huge open cave). Don't know how artifacts of wrong computations will looks like, but probably similar to sky lighting brightness bug. I'm concerned about water now, not important effect at all, but to fight with issues of it's implementation give me interest at least.
