Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
The skin texture would have to be entirely black? Like just a plain blank black texture? Without any structure? Or do I misunderstand something?

If it will be black, then subsurface scattering will not be applied, so this is the best method. Don't know, may be sometime i'll separate this for characters and other objects, because this effect is very bad coded (not all grass have it, that's also produce artifacts).

Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
But with a black texture like this:
I get an entirely black body. Not something that just prevents ENB from applying SSS. I think I misunderstand you. ^^
Or do you mean the alpha channel?

I'm having the same issues at Tywele. Not only on skin but also on shadows that are cast on snow. It looks like a rainbow effect.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
May be that's not subsurface scattering texture replaced?
If the bug appear on the snow, then it's not subsurface scattering, because changing amount of it would show objects with this effect. Turn of parallax bugs fix, that's all i can help.

I take it that you're editing the diffuse map? I might be mistaken, but I think the subsurface details are in _sk.dds.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
I'm not really worried about this anymore, but I was wondering why using parallax messed up my specular mapping?
ENB Off:
ENB On:
If you compare the pictures, I can see the specularity from no matter how far without ENB on.
But when I turn ENB on the specularity "pops" into view. If I back up and go forward it keeps popping in and out.
I just got rid of my parallax texture packs because it was driving me mad but I was just wondering why parallax causes that or if it even is possible to fix.
I can also provide better examples if needed.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
A wild guess would be that he saved the parallax textures with mip-maps.
And as Skyrim usually uses the normal-map alpha as source for the specular i guess that got screwed up while creating mip-maps.

Either make all the *.sk textures black or try the *.sk from here.Tywele wrote:But with a black texture like this:

They have a uniform color and i believe that with Subsurface Maps its
more red = more SSS
So that could lessen the effect.
This helped in the past as well.:
SubSurfaceScatteringPowerDay=20.4
SubSurfaceScatteringPowerNight=20.4

Re: TES Skyrim 0.117 beta
Subsurface scattering power parameters must not be huge, range between 0.25-3.0 is normal for it colors. How do you imagine yourself to compute texture color as ^20 ??? Even 0.9^20=0.12.
Parallax fix (as parameter in enbseries.ini) not work when there are no lights with shadows, that's why artifacts appear some time. If parallax mod is not installed, then this fix must be toggled off.
