Re: Fallout 4 0.282 ENBoost

Hi, I have a problem with version .282.

Ever since installing it I get lots of textures not loading in (they stay at LOD quality) even when I get very close. I have the video memory size set to 7500MB (DX11 memtest shows ~7700MB). Should I set it lower or higher?

Nevermind, 7200 seems to work fine. I have 4gb VRAM and 16GB RAM on Win7 if it matters.

Testing the latest build, I am looseing almost 30 fps whilst looking in certain directions. Not narrowed it down to what is causing it, but may be NPC's.

Re: Fallout 4 0.282 ENBoost

Tried the attached build...I actually gained a couple FPS.

To test, I stood at the bridge at Sanctuary Hills (on the side closest to the town), looking in the direction of the power armour station.

With the old build, I was getting 26-27 fps. With the new build, I'm getting 30, though there was an instant when it dropped to 27fps, but it then returned to 30.

Funky.

By the way, has Fallout 4 got shadow batching? I remember you saying that there's some nice performance gains to be had in Skyrim, if the shadows were to be batched. Could be swanky for Fallout 4, considering the default uber long shadow distances.

I don't see the hitches you talking about with forcing fps limiter to 30 or without it in exteriors or interior Vault 111. Probably it depends from hardware and quality setting.
How to set up resolution 1280x1024 in the game, i don't know.
Is Fallout shadows batched or not i can't say for sure, not yet checked that. But from brief investigation of log they are not.

I don't know which drives are HDD on that screenshot and for performance reasons placing swap file at same logical drive where the game is not a good idea (unless you have 16 Gb RAM). Of course it's better than placing it on to SSD, if have a choice.

Do not set video memory size greater than reported by VRamSizeTest. I guess you have issue with exact same size because other applications require vram and you don't give them any room.

If you are 100% sure that test build make such low fps and 0.282 do not have this issue, post screenshot of that area, where is it on the map and screenshots of game video options. Also prepare for testing other builds with partially disabled fixes.

Aye, it seems that some people experience it, while others don't. Sadly, I'm one of those that do. Ergh.

I set the game to use the Medium settings, then set the draw distance sliders to max (set the items distance slider to the middle), Godrays to low, disabled DOF, Textures to ultra, Shadow Distance to high, everything else medium.

To change the resolution to 1280x1024, in Fallout4Prefs.ini under Display:

iSize H=1024
iSize W=1280

The shadows aren't batched? Bethesda needs to hire competent graphics programmers, dangnammit.

Got another question, heh. Do you know if Fallout4 is compiled with SSE2 instructions? When Skyrim was released, it was compiled with x87 instructions, which led to shit performance. Wouldn't be too surprised if Bethesda did it again with Fallout 4.

x64 build always use sse, it's the nature of architecture.

Updated without version change, download again.
Added bug fix which leads to startup message or editor of ENBoost to appear on character face. It should also affect stability of the game. Fix only active when ApplyStabilityPatch=true, but for hud it's always enabled.

Even without ENB urban areas have huge slowdown in some parts, I found setting shadow distance to medium help gain 10 fps in those areas.
