Hi all

I'd like to open a dialogue regarding Skyrim's broken LAA patch on the TES.exe
This was supposed to have been fixed in the 1.3.10 update where Skyrim was made LAA to handle 4gb (3.8gb technically)
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Patch

I've read many forums where others including myself report that Skyrim has a physical memory ceiling of 3.1gb now.
Many say the new memory ceiling was introduced since patch 1.9. I've rolled back to 1.8.15 and still found the memory issue was present.

I've since rolled back to version 1.3.10 to test. I had to leave to work before I could push my RAM beyond 3.1gb but I do remember last year before Dragonborn came out that I never had physical RAM related crashes other than video ram. Now that I have 6gb of video ram, those crashes are behind me. But now I have to deal with this BS? Bethesda and Steam are clueless when it comes to satisfying the basic needs of the PC user base. I find it infuriating that they would remove their own LAA patch after people screamed for it for months after Skyrim was released!

(The unofficial rumor is that the LAA patch was broken due to the memory fixes put in place for the PS3 version.)

I know Boris created the memory management options in ENB. I've had a poor experience with it though, usually resulting in stuttering or additional CTDs. Maybe I just don't have the proper settings in place.

Can others here share their experience with the memory management tool in ENB. Do you use it? Is it stable for you? What settings do you use?

Thank you for you comments.

3.1 gb limit not exist, it's incorrect measuring, real limit is 4 gb and in last official patch LAA work, binary already compiled to support large address aware mode. So what actually do you want, except other presets of the ENBoost memory manager?

hi Boris

Thanks for the reply and all your willingness to help on even a minor issue like this.
I appreciate the support. Are you suggesting that windows task manager is displaying incorrect memory usage for tes.exe? is there a more accurate tool you would suggest for my test?

VMMap is the only tool i know which properly measure memory used by process. If i remember it's somewhere on Microsoft web site.

Thanks for posting those settings OhKay.

So, for this line...
VideoMemorySizeMb=4096
Should I always put the total of my VRAM?

I just got all my texture mods installed and am going to start doing some in depth testing tomorrow for the TES.exe memory usage.

Basically, I want to compare Skyrim v1.3.10.0 against the latest update 1.9.32.0.8

Not that its going to do anything for anyone other than prove my theory that Beth screwed something up in the executable.

Optimal VideoMemorySizeMb is a bit less than your real vram size, but it can be bigger, max size depends from OS, vendor, drivers, amount of ram installed. If i remember, you have Titan videocard, so set 5500 and it will work fine.

far, for me i always had this setting 4096 of my vram. you can double it but ctd more frequently from my experience. in your case with the Titan, why not max it out or just below your vram capacity as advised by Boris. i find that anything below 1.9.32.0.8 , the game freezes at least a second or consecutively thereon when loading a new area which is very annoying to play.

I run with 3968 for my 4096 670 card, 128mb less then 4096 so why not test it with 6016 for Titan.

Why not to run with unsafe memory hack and borderless window mode? The best solution against all issues for Titan.
