Hi all
I'd like to open a dialogue regarding Skyrim's broken LAA patch on the TES.exe
This was supposed to have been fixed in the 1.3.10 update where Skyrim was made LAA to handle 4gb (3.8gb technically)
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:PatchI've read many forums where others including myself report that Skyrim has a physical memory ceiling of 3.1gb now.
Many say the new memory ceiling was introduced since patch 1.9. I've rolled back to 1.8.15 and still found the memory issue was present.
I've since rolled back to version 1.3.10 to test. I had to leave to work before I could push my RAM beyond 3.1gb but I do remember last year before Dragonborn came out that I never had physical RAM related crashes other than video ram. Now that I have 6gb of video ram, those crashes are behind me. But now I have to deal with this BS? Bethesda and Steam are clueless when it comes to satisfying the basic needs of the PC user base. I find it infuriating that they would remove their own LAA patch after people screamed for it for months after Skyrim was released!
(The unofficial rumor is that the LAA patch was broken due to the memory fixes put in place for the PS3 version.)
I know Boris created the memory management options in ENB. I've had a poor experience with it though, usually resulting in stuttering or additional CTDs. Maybe I just don't have the proper settings in place.
Can others here share their experience with the memory management tool in ENB. Do you use it? Is it stable for you? What settings do you use?
Thank you for you comments.
