I'm assuming this belongs here, since I can get Skyrim to run properly with FRAPS, but it's such a performance loss. To get technical information out of the way, it is the Steam version of Skyrim w/o DLC using a large amount of texture enhancements (all optimized with a TextureOptimizer program, very useful) alongside a group of mods to improve realism, but in the end it has no conflicts with ENB. I'm using .221 alongside my 560 Ti (no ShadowPlay, I don't even know if that works) with 332.21 drivers, the preset resembling ProjectENB w/o DOF; FPS ~25 and up (with FRAPS on, it's a different story). Overall, I have not encountered any compatibility issues in my environment. Now that that's out of the way...

I was hoping to get a better video capture tool in use with Skyrim ENB-ified, and obviously MSI Afterburner can't seem to pass, and my choice favorite DxTory doesn't play well with it either. This is straightforward news, and I've talked to Boris himself about it in the Nexus forums. Apparently, there's no rush or understanding of how to get these tools to be more compliant; I wouldn't hold such a thing against him, it's not his fault in any way. I just want to make a thread that's dedicated to working around this; I'm looking to make something cinematic with its appearance and it requires a decent framerate, so any help or solutions can aid me here.

Hooking on any program does not seem to have an effect, but I'm wondering if it could be based on the capture tool's priority level in some way. One noticeable trick I've learned is that with a mod that slows down time in-game, I can film something with a terrible framerate as long as it's a static shot. I don't remember the name of the mod and my Wrye Bash is acting up, but that's a possible short-term solution. Are there any solutions this forum might have for using video capture utilities?

I'm not familiar with anything except fraps, but heard that bandicam (or how it's named) do work with the mod. Afterburner have bug and RivaTuner author (Afterburner based on it) refused to listen about this. DXTory is not freeware, so won't bother, it's developer problem if he's software is commercial.

Thank you so much, I'll try testing out Bandicam then. I'll also try and contact Dxtory's developer even if he is in Japan, but until then Bandicam will work fine.

Hello! I'm a long time user of ENB for skyrim and I makes video (in french) about the game. I just subscribed to the forum right now because I never had any issue or anything to share in english, as everything I do is in french ^^ but ... hello everyone! :D

I used Mirillis action to record video but it doesn't work with enb (makes my game crash after loading)
So I switched for Fraps, my computer can handle the FPS loss, but since the release of the 0.251, it crashes too!

I tried Bandicam right now, doesn't change anything (when I load a savegames, I get the loading screen, then back to desktop), so I don't know if it'll change something for you.

When I load the game without ENB OR without any recording software, it just works fine.

I wonder if there's a solution to that problem :?

Try to turn off all parameters of memory manager in enblocal.ini

ENBSeries: Thanks for the tip ! :D

I put that in my enblocal.ini to test what you said
:
[MEMORY]
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=false
DisableDriverMemoryManager=true
DisablePreloadToVRAM=true
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=64
VideoMemorySizeMb=2000
EnableCompression=false
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

What it did :
Fraps: Kind of worked.. 5 minutes.
Still made the fps drops a lot .( from 50 to 25/30 so still good enough but not excellent. ).
But after 2 tries,the game won't load anymore, even without fraps launched. Don't know why,the only thing I did was wander around to see if the FPS were good enough. (I tried different saves). I think I might have screwed my game when I tried to enter an Inn ( loading screen.) without stopping the recording.

Mirillis Still didn't want to let the game launch. It just makes the screen blink, then nothing.

Bandicam , it just crashed after the loading screen as did Fraps before modifying the Enblocal.ini

SO my guess is I kinda screwed something in my game, but still; Fraps seems to be the only viable option to make videos.

If you have a GTX 600 series or higher, you should be able to use Nvidia's Shadowplay.
It works amazingly. I still use FRAPS for screenshots, though.

Edit:
I should also mention Shadowplay is free to use, and can be used to stream to Twitch (just be sure your router's drivers are up to date for streaming).
In Shadow Mode, Shadowplay will record to a temporary file as you play, and when you press the assigned key, it will save the last X amount of minutes you specified.
So lets say you are playing something like BF4, and you just pulled-off a kill no one would believe, you could just press a key and bam! Moment saved! Shadowplay does not give you a frame rate hit while manually recording or shadow recording, so it's win-win.
