Hi,
first of all:
This is the first time I use a/the EnbSeries-Mod and it's really, really great.
I'm asking myself now, why I haven't tried this earlier with other games.
And if I understood correctly, this mod theoretically works with every game using d3d9.dll?
Now, playing around with all these settings and values possible in the enbseries.ini, I messed it up somehow and I haven't made a backup (shame on me). So I would like to ask for some help or at least any idea, where to look for. You can see my problem on the picture I attached.
Perhaps I should mention, that it's about Skyrim.
These lines seem to be shadows out of nowhere. Well, not completely, they are at the edges of the polygones, where they touch each other/get together. But these shadows on snow...they look really wired and destroy the optical atmosphere.
Last of all:
I found more Enbseries-configurations at the nexus-network for Skyrim and I downloaded some of them, cause they promised a more colorful setting, darker nights and so on. Everyone seems to use another d3d9.dll, different effects.txt oder, enbeffects.fx and so on.
Now I'm not the smartes programer (in fact, last time I wrote a program was with TurboPascal6), but I'm quite sure, a bigger file doesn't mean its better or giving more options to improve what you get to see on screen. So I guess, just merging these files into one or just putting parts I find in one file and that are missing in another into this second one, is not a good idea (at least for the d3d9.dll). Even more, I really haven't a clue what some parts of code do. But putting the readable parts together...worsed thing to happen is a crash, right?
Is there in gerenal a hint, how to get the best parts of any file and put them together to one new?
I attached two small files to show what I mean.
Thanks for reading.
I hope someone has an idea and answers.
Greetings.
/edit: ohoh, just saw, modifing files is not allowed, upload at nexus too.
Well, I don't want to load them up anywhere - it's just for me, I promise. But if someone askes, I would upload my files here, if allowed. At least the enbseries.ini. My knowledge won't be good enough to modifiy any other file anyway.
/edit2:
I'm using 0.102 Tatsudoshi, I found on nexus, I think. Downloaded so many versions, I'm not quiete sure from where the one is, I use now, but it's looks best in my opinion.
Link removed
Strange, it uses FXAA Injector already, thought this came with 0.103 first time?
Does the FXAA tool have to run in background while playing? I never do so...
/edit3:
within the enbseries.ini seem to be some lines belonging to other games - or they are not documented yet (I know the documentation for Skyrim is incomplete, but googling for single lines lead me to single special games).
/edit4: AntiFreeze-Patch seems to be in, but I don't know what version.
If wanted, I'll attach enbseries.ini, but for now, it'll give you these line as shown in the attached picture.
Link to Nexus removed, I'll give it to Boris Vorontsov, if he want's it to be deleted by and from Nexus.

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
Hi
Attached screenshot display too huge amount of ssao applied, it's AOAmount variable as i remember.
Modifying of files are allowed, because they are addons. Prohibited only binary modifying, like d3d9.dll, enbseries.dll, enbinjector.exe. Links to other sites/mods allowed, if it's not spam. Upload to nexus is allowed for all files, except binary (i'll change this rule if fake information from other graphic mods there will be deleted by admins).
I have no idea about fxaa injector process or other mods, including various presets for ENBSeries. Why? I don't have time for this, i'm not a fan of the game and can't track everything. So, can't give any suggestion about them. As you mentioned, size of files doesn't matter, but making different kind of presets and shaders is possible by taking separately parts from other presets. Not for all cases, but mostly trying to keep plugin like mod.
Sorry, can't reply much, have a lot of work to do.

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
Okay, I think, I turned most to my liking, but it's too dark overall and I can't semm to get it brighter.
Increasing gamma just makes everything milky. And I dn't wannt touch shadows.
So what do I have to tweak? AmbientLightingIntensityDay? DirectLightingIntensityDay? Changed both, but I don't get the wanted results.
First attached picture ist with enb disabled.
Second enb enabled and as you see in comparison, it's just too dark.

Shadows are not modified by ENBSeries. And i can't teach what to modify, wait if someone else will reply.

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
It's a bit hard to help without knowing your config, but it does look like you have too low ambient lighting intensity or too high curve. What you probably could do is to reset both ambient and direct lighting intensities and curves to 1 and see if the image looks at least somewhat normal. If it does, go from there and slowly start tweaking the values. If the image doesn't look anything like it should, there's probably something else wrong with your config. When tweaking, remember that intensity adjusts the amount of light and curve acts more or less like a contrast setting: the higher the curve, the more intense shadows and highlights will get.

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
It's a neverending story, tweaking here, tweaking there...how do I get Shadows darker?
[ColorCorrection]DarkeningAmountDay?
What are the standard values for the entries under [ColorCorrection]?
Do I have to define them all, if I use no PaletteTexture?
And what are valid values for [ADAPTATION]AdaptationSensitivity?
Set Sensitivity from 0.1 to 50.0 and I saw no difference (I set [EFFECT]EnableAdaptation to true before).
What's it supossed to do. Well, theoretically I know about eye adaptation, but enabling it just makes everything very bright.
Is it supposed to be disabled?

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
[ColorCorrection] is only for old versions. These parameters described in the docs on the site, so you will not miss them.
Adaptation parameters in enbseries.ini file working in latest versions only, but they mostly not noticeable, because forced in enbeffect.fx. But all computations of adaptation are affected by enbseries.ini parameters, when i finish adaptation completely, it will be only inside enbseries.ini for easier modifying.
Only few required when palette enabled (screen level day, screen level night), for all other cases they are all used.Do I have to define them all, if I use no PaletteTexture?

Re: I messed up my .ini, getting shadows where no should be
Oh, that's great, real adaptation will be a awsome feature.
is all you can find in my ini for colorcorrection. So if I set for example no DarkeningAmountNight and use no palette, then what value will it have? In old docu is no standard value mentioned.
Code: Select all
[COLORCORRECTION]
UsePaletteTexture=false
ColorSaturationDay=10
DarkeningAmountDay=75

No darkenining (0) means no change in colors, it simple.
