Performance CPU+GPU (w/o ENB)

This morning I`ve done some tests and just would like to share this info...
As I think it could be helpful or interesting for somebody.

1st of all this tests have nothing to do with ENB performance,
so all test were done using only SKYRIM without ENB wrapper/injector running.

All screenshots you can find at
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0By7po ... g4bDA/edit

During these tests I hoped find out the reason of “randomly” FPS drop and way to increase performance at my own PC.
The main thing I wasn`t able to understand is small FPS and LOW usage of CPU/GPU at same time.
It looks like in TEST_01:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... BHejg/edit
Not balanced core usage + GPU load about 30-40% = 23FPS
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... Z6RnM/edit
It looked really strange for me, but in this case I couldn`t make decision about the reason.

Ok. I decided to estimate “weight” of this scene (at screenshot).
In some game there is possibility to show polygons/triangles (not sure about term) counter in your filed of view,
but for SKYRIM I could only find out console command TWF to toggle wireframe:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... hUOHM/edit
But it only told me the scene is complex (or looks like...).
Other console command is TLL it toggles LOD.
TLL reduces draw distance but where is performance gain I wonder?
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... hVSFU/edit

To be sure my PC can give me more then 25 FPS I rotated camera
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... ZNZE0/edit
does this scene is as complex as last one I`m still not sure but there is 60 FPS.

A this point I got other interesting result. In scenes where I got good FPS (from 30-50) GPU usage grows up.
So in case performance depends on GPU power, GPU makes all it can.
At TEST_01 GPU usage is LOW, so I made decision it`s not GPU fault.

To be sure I OC GPU (from 750/1200 to 900/1350) (TEST_02).
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... dsOEU/edit
And no result (same 21-23 FPS in test scene):
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... NGY1k/edit

Next one is CPU.
I was able OC my core quad from 2.6 to 3.2 (TEST_04)
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... NWZ00/edit
and I got +5 FPS
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0By7poyz ... Ewems/edit

I think it`s not any kind of infelicity. It`s real increase.
But unbalanced cores usage is still here.
Unfortunately I haven`t screenshot, but I made test and turn off 2 of cores.
It didn’t influence at FPS in this test scene (but CPU usage was 100%).

At TEST_06 I OC cpu+ OC gpu but as I saw in TEST_02 OC gpu did nothing for increase performance.

So for now I think it`s all about CPU single core frequency and game engine (btw somewhere at forum there is post Boris advices buy i5 and OC it...and it`s really good idea afterall). And looks like we can do nothing with this “strange” areas.

p.s. there is no HDD usage counter because I found out real HDD usage happens during loading or location changing even if you play with HD textures (looks like RAM is more important for it).

you can get a dramatic improvements if you disable the imagespace manipulations though you gonna lose lot of different effects that way + complete Bethesda Lightning setup by using the teofis command.
The Engine is not the best Optimized indeed buggy here and there and also the Game itself is Highly CPU dependent.
