Hello !

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 (from Windows 8.0) and now, Skyrim won't launch if I let d3d9.dll in the folder.
When It launches, long black screen and then close.

I saw on the net It's not only me. Seems to happen to versions after 0.188.

I know you don't have Windows 8.1 to test, but I'll try to give you a max hints.

Thank you for advance.

Edit : Tested with UseEffect = false. Same thing. So it's the d3d9.dll file that fail to load. Windows 8.1 uses WDDM 1.3 and DirectX 11.2 if it can help.

Version 0.188 not differ by anything which may cause issues of any kind from v0.191, which is 13713 actually. I only have one suspicious important enouch change regarding that, but it absolutely harmless and can't cause issues. Version 0.187 is not differ from 0.188 the same way to be incompatible. I think size matter, because in Afterburner this bug present too. I can't help much, only experimenting with various temporary builds.

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 yesterday, too. I only started Skyrim for a short time, but ENB was loading fine. No issues detected. I m using GeForce 331.40 Driver Beta. Are you still using 326.80? Try the newer one, perhaps that helps?

Using too Geforce 331.40 beta.

Boris

The 0.188 thing comes not from me but for another user who have the same problem.

I am ready to test temporary builds. Maybe a Debug build could help.

Boris, do not search anymore !!!

You talked about AfterBurner, so I tested removing Razer Game Booster.

Problem solved. Sorry.

Sorry !

I know perfectly that, using Unreal Cinema for this purpose.
I just tried Razer Game Booster by curiosity (try limiting Skyrim crashes by removing processes) on Windows 8. It worked. Not in Windows 8.1 anymore.

Skyrim crashes are not dependent from other processes, they can't, it's very silly opinion, the same as that shadows in game drawed on cpu.

I'm running Windows 8.1 and for some reason, when I press Shift+Enter to bring up the menu, I can't move the rotating ENB Cursor. My in-game Cursor moves normal, but not the ENB menu Cursor.

I'm a big screenshotter so this is making Skyrim unbearable. stopped playing over a month ago because of it, but decided to see if it had been fixed or something, and still getting the issue.

Somebody wrote here that to fix you should turn off something in application options regarding dynamic dpi scaling or something like that (i have no idea what the hell is that and why it affect standart winapi functions).
