I'm trying out ENB for the first time today. I'm using the following configuration:

ENB Wrapper 2.50 (downloaded 2014/02/02 15:23 EST from here)
RealVision ENB (downloaded 2014/02/02 14:25 EST from nexus)
Ewi's .ini files (adjusted per comments)

Skyrim launches fine and the ENB GUI appears properly. However, if I try to create a new game or load an existing game, the loading screen (with whatever model goes with the loading screen) shows normally but then, just before it renders the new game or loaded game (I can hear the distinctive "frying" sound) it crashes to desktop.

I've tried the following steps with no change in result:
* I've tried both the wrapper and injection methods
* I've tried running it without RealVision ENB installed
* I've tried running it without SKSE

The only thing that works is to replace the 2.50 wrapper files with the 2.36 wrapper files. Then everything loads just fine.

How can I further diagnose this problem? Thank you.

The only way is to give you builds between 0.236 and 0.250 for testing, then turn off part of the code and test again. But new users always ignore such testing, this was prooved over time. Also someone posted similar bug report for 0.246 version and it was not because of mod. So are you sure that you can spend several days for testing builds or leave this forum as anyone else?

I'd be happy to try the intermediate builds and see when it breaks, if that would help.

Because I'm new to working with ENB I figured this was something I was doing wrong. But I've spent a healthy chunk of the day trying to track down this issue, so I finally decided I'd best post about it.

Before we try any of that, however, I may have just now narrowed the issue some. I need to do some further testing and then will report back my findings. It may be tomorrow before I can report back, but I will be sure to do so.

Thank you.

Edit:
Well this is maddening. I've resolved it but I cannot ascertain how I did so. I'll list exactly what I've done since it was not operational, but I can't see how anything I did resolved the issue. Nevertheless, it's best I document it:

1) I put the 2.50 wrapper version back into place.
2) I launched skse_loader.exe as an Administrator (this is not normal for me - I run Steam in a limited privilege user account, and when I run it as Admin SKSE always refuses to load). Skyrim balked about needing to check my computer configuration to generate the new .ini files for the Admin user which had never run Skyrim before. I let it do so.
3) Skyrim loaded with 2.50 GUI, I loaded my game and it completed successfully. SKSE was not loaded (as expected).
4) I closed Skyrim and relaunched it as my limited user but via Steam (which also skips skse_loader.exe). I was again able to load my game successfully.
5) At this point I assumed it meant SKSE or one of the SKSE plugins was to blame (which didn't make sense because earlier today I loaded it without SKSE and it didn't help).
6) Next I removed all SKSE plugins and launched it as my normal user using skse_loader.exe. Again it loaded my game fine.
7) Finally I put all the SKSE plugins back into place. And again, it loaded my game file.

So, as far as I can tell, everything is exactly as it was when it was CTDing (aside from it having generated .ini files for my Admin user), and yet now it isn't crashing. I'm an experienced diagnostician, so I'm used to changing one thing at a time and making mental note of each step I take, and yet I cannot see what step I took makes sense to have fixed it. I'll keep fiddling with it and if I'm able to reproduce the problem I'll report back.

Don't waste your time on experimenting, enjoy the game. Nobody will get any useful information from your reports, because users rarely use search on the forum and i don't think that such problem simple to find by keywords.

I was actually getting this same issue, and strangely enough it was happening only when ForceBorderlessFullscreen=true, but worked fine if I had it disabled. Though I did just yesterday reinstall skyrim and the usual mods/enb so wasn't entirely sure what the issue was until today. Have I just forgotten how to correctly turn on borderless fullscreen? This is with the same enb and ewi's .ini as OP as well

Aye, as it stands, I can't really test further since I can no longer reproduce the problem. I'm obviously glad it's working but it's a shame I couldn't uncover the why of it. But enjoy the game I shall continue to do! Thanks for everything!

While this may very well have been the solution for you, I definitely fiddled with various combinations of bFull Screen, ForceBorderless, and ForceBorderlessFullscreen before I posted, and none of the combinations seemed to help. But it's obviously something folks should check if they encounter it as well.

Having the same stuff going sometimes. Nothing i try seems to be affecting it in any way, and then it fixes itself. Yesterday evening was a CTD hell, and i tried everything with no luck. Today it's working.
Same stuff as the OP said - the loading screen fades to black, i hear that frying sound... and then desktop.
