I am by no means good at even installing the simplest of mods, but I know that something's up with my ENB mod for Dark Souls II and I don't know what to do about it.

For some reason, the game's FPS drops to 20 or less in light areas and seemingly can't go much above 30 in dark areas, such as the Gutter.

I messed around with settings. I turned off DoF, lowered the quality for everything with a quality option (except bloom), and messed with other various settings only to turn them back to their original state because nothing changed my FPS for better or worse. And that's what I am most confused about: upping the settings appeared to have no negative impact. And I knew it wasn't the FPS limiter because I limited the FPS to 60, which is the refresh rate of my monitor.

i7 4770k @ 3.5GHz (base clock)
16GB of RAM
GTX 770 2GB (base clock)
Windows 8.1

I only have a 1080p monitor and played the game at a resolution of 1080p. Also, I had no other mods installed.

Sounds like maybe you need to grant enbhost.exe admin rights on the compatibility tab.. I would do so for the games .exe as well... Check and make sure it is running when you launch the game, I believe you should get a warning if it is not...

Admin rights for sure.

You using Nvidia control panel or nVidia inspector?

Either way what are your settings there?

What kind of frame rates do you get without enb?

I could not find an enbhost.exe. Even in the previous version of the mod that I used I did not see that. Yet I can still start up the game and the mod is there for sure.

Here are my NVIDIA Inspector settings: http://imgur.com/3Z6KC8a

And my NVIDIA Control Panel settings: http://imgur.com/zHdk2Jy and http://imgur.com/JqTEh

Without ENB, my game rarely drops below 60fps.

It looks like Dark Souls 2 enb does not use the enbhost.. so disregard that comment.

I have yet to use this enb..

Does the dark souls client have AA settings?

You may want to try using the client AA or SweetFX SMAA ... see if that makes a difference...

I do not change anything to resource management of the game, so don't know what to answer.

First, remove the flags for AA and restore the "Override" you have,
second why did you add a SLI flag, you have only one GPU,right?
So,you may delete the profile if you made it for this game (if not added automatically through GFE,which IMO this utility suck as it is now,if this profile it's added from Nvidia then restore to default) and check playing the game with ENB again.

I am not sure what you mean when you say "remove the flags for AA and restore the "Override" you have," but I left it at application controlled and I am not sure if you were referring to the "behavior Flags" setting or what.

I got rid of the SLI stuff, I think. I've yet to try the mod out again, though.

Also, if you check the top of the thread, you can see that I upgraded to 16GB of RAM from 8GB and that I got an i7 4770k instead of an AMD-8320.

I am not sure if this would help at all, but this may explain some issues: http://imgur.com/wW3nid8 I don't know how I would get the text smaller to fit on the screen.

I am on V. 0.257 now and I deleted the NVIDIA Inspector profile and now everything is fine.
