Hi all! I'm a first timer on these boards, so please excuse me if I'm out of order anywhere. I just got tired of trying to fix this issue on my own and wanted to know if anybody else could help me.

I've been playing Skyrim for months now using ENB and two dozen or so mods with no problems whatsoever. I went away for the weekend two weeks ago and came back to find Skyrim crashing to desktop before I even got to the Bethesda logo. Nothing was changed on my system (that I know of) and it seemed to happen out of nowhere. After about a week of uninstalling everything and installing fresh, checking mod orders, cleaning master files, etc. I was finally able to fix it a few nights ago by recognizing that it was my ENB installation that was having issues. I reverted from 0.262 to 0.236 and everything worked perfectly again.

Until last night when, again out of nowhere, I began experiencing the same immediate CTDs. Changed ENB versions again with no luck. Does anybody know why this is happening? I'm not going to go through a bunch of exhausting re-installs again only to see the same thing when I know it's ENB that seems to be having trouble with my system. I just don't understand how it would work perfectly and then decide not to work the next day without a single change.

Please let me know what information you guys might need to help me figure this out and thank you for any help you guys can provide!

Nothing happen just in time, unless it have timebomb. Not long time ago the same thing wrote one guy and at the end he found out that his brother did changes to the mod, deleted it, then installed again wrongly (if i remember well). All solutions are generic and written in readme and here many times, search by keywords "crawpware", "afterburn", "evga", etc. And don't forget that drivers may have feature of autoupdate.

My video driver was last updated July 29th and is up to date, so it couldn't have been that. Windows has received updates, but seeing as that would be a near universal impact I'd be surprised that I don't see more threads on it. From what I can see based on trying to find answers in the past this happens quite frequently, never across the board to users, and never really gets solved (most threads seem to just end without the problem being answered). I will try to look around at threads surrounding those keywords, but aside from that does anybody else have constructive feedback?

I once had CTDs trying to update enb to 250+ because of "Microsoft Office IME 2010 (Traditional Chinese)", same problem with IME Japanese reported by another user. We both solve the problem by install other IME version.

What I tried to say is that even if you haven't change anything related to Skyrim or ENB, there is still chances that other system changes might affect them.
And better test if ENB crash with vanilla game to eliminate mod/skse related crash.

Yes, I have tried that. Vanilla game works fine, ENB is what causes CTD. If it could be any of these tiny or invisible changes that caused it (which is extremely frustrating in its own right), what would you say is the best way to determine which it is? I'm really just looking for diagnostic steps I can take besides re-installing over and over again to no result.

Try any other ENBSeries with any other games, may be it's crapware. Install latest DirectX Runtime (but don't think it helps, downgrade can't be done for DX). Disable and unload antiviruses, if you have any. Run in admin mode. I don't know actually, keep my pc clear from garbage and never have issues.

it is hard to say, the ideal way would be checking everything you've change between game's last launched and when ctd happened, and try to revert them to see if that work.
As Boris says, what changes might be graphic driver, programs with ingame osd, or anything else even if it seems non related at all.

Finally solved the problem last night. I re-installed everything again, but checked the enblocal.ini I was using. My memory values had somehow changed, so I reverted them to my system's values and I haven't seemed to have a problem since.

For anyone coming across this thread with similar issues, check your enblocal.ini memory values!
