I've been struggling with mods in Gta4 for months now. After I started a few useless threads on some other sites three months ago, I gave up. It wasn't until yesterday that I decided to try again.

Why did I decide this? I did a bit of work on my PC over the past month and I miraculously wondered that maybe my issues would be fixed if I suddenly fired up Gta4.

Well, no.

These texture pop-in bugs still happen, and once they happen, they aren't going away. They look awful, and are pretty much the texture of distant terrain in Gta4, and they also cover everything.

I'm using an ENB, which is the Natural and Realistic Preset.

I'm also using Liberty City Textures Vol. 1 (https://mega.co.nz/#F!hc4iyQ4S!CdAXAB1FERFSK32dGxo7Pw).

I love both of them, and I really can't play Gta4 without them (I've went far beyond the point of no return I'm afraid).

The thing is, I don't know what is causing it. I've heard of this occurring as a vanilla, non-modded bug, but I don't know if it in this case.

It could be related to the ENB, but my testing points otherwise. This leaves the textures, which I enjoy quite a bit.

I've searched everywhere, and no fix. I probably tried every commandline that remotely relates to VRAM and no solution.

However, I found this yesterday: http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/gta-iv-la ... fix-f29216

It seems promising, but it didn't fix it either (I probably did it wrong though, damn gta memory bugs, they're impossible to fix without even more conflicts).

Can anyone help? It could be related to all three of the factors I listed above, or none of them. I would love to be able to fix this.

My PC specs: i7-2700k | EVGA Geforce GTX 980 | OCZ ZX 850 watt | Seagate Barracuda 2TB
| WD Caviar Black 1TB | Crucial M4 128GB | Asus Sabertooth Z77 | Asus
VG248QE 1080p 144hz | Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 | Corsair Vengeance
1500 Corsair Vengeance MM2000 | Corsair Vengeance K70 and M60 Coolermaster
Storm Enforcer | LG 12x Blu-ray reader/rewriter

Sorry for this huge text block, lol.

This shows why I can't do away with the textures or ENB: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =265886225

I have no idea what to do about that, may be some commands may change that somehow. Modern drivers foolish the game about video memory size by reporting much bigger size of it, but if problem still exist, it's just because game is unable to upload textures from hard drive to ram and then to vram, where is the weak bottleneck on your pc only you can find out. May be the streaming thread is running on your cpu logical instead of physical core.

Do you have any modded cars?
If yes, remove them to see if it fixes your issues.

Avoid commandline.txt unless you type -norestrictions which is enough :)

Texture pop-in aren't related to ENB. Don't worry.

Sorry for the late response, I've been having a rough few days with my PC.

Anyway, I do also doubt it is an ENB issue, but I have taken it into consideration.

About the Cores, I'm not sure. I have no issues like this in other games, and this whole texture pop-in thing is apparently relatively common, especially with higher-res textures (that is to say they aren't that high-res, but enough to strain Gta4's engine obviously). I am using a 2700k, so I do have hyperthreading. I believe my streaming core is Core #0, but I'll look into it.

I looked on a few videos of the issues and it seems that putting GTA4 on an SSD will help. I'll look into that.

Thanks guys!
