Hey guys, I'm hoping I can get some more idea for how to solve the crash on startup error. I've read many forums and checked off whats been suggested so far -The OLDER ENB, version 0216, DOES WORK, V0278 does not, that's the one that crashes on startup -No crapware, I don't have any driver management or graphic boosting software, the ONLY thing running is steam. This is a fresh install of windows, but I did update directX when i saw it was needed, still crashes -No anti-aliasing, anisoptropic filters and water displacement. HDR is turned on. -Yes, it is installed correctly in the root folder(Note, I DID have it working before I reinstalled windows, I upgraded my system) -All device drivers are up to date -I read that the injector version doesn't work if your system is too fast, I believe that may apply, the wrapper version crashes, but the injector doesn't even load -Both the modified enblocal.ini and original one crash -Windows 7, 64 bit -Nvidia GTX960 card, Solid State Hard Drive, 16GB Ram, AMD 8 core 4GHZ processor -I can't think of anything else right now, been at this a few days, any ideas are very welcome. *Update* Some newer graphics cards come with software that automatically load in the background that conflicts with ENB, in Nvidias case in was 'Nvidia Backend' and you can find it by going into the processes tab of your task manager. Keep them from opening, go to msconfig and check all all the nvidia applications AND all the processes. Thank you |

Steam overlay may be. Try without memory manager (inside enblocal.ini reducememoryusage=false). This could be driver bug. |

Thank you for the quick reply, it's great how much you want to help people who use your software. I tried the change right away, sadly it still crashed. I will see if I can find a different version of driver for the graphics card and see if that helps. Thank you again. *Update* Tried several older drivers for my video card and still crashes on startup with the latest ENB, version 0216 still runs good. |

Version 0.216 have memory manager and defer, so in generic requirements it do not differ from latest. Are you sure that don't have afterburner, evga, logitek, razor, d3d overrider, etc tools? Or antivirus, especially the worst is avast. I've seen one guy reported issues and when posted process list, it had lot of crapware, including one tool from microsoft which blocks memory access (in flash f.e.). As i remember, version of directx files used for old and new versions are the same, but just in case try to install latest directx runtime. |

The graphics card does say evga on the box, i dont know if that means its compatible with that software or whether that software is built into its drivers or not. I did go through the processes in task manager and turn off every nvidia process it would let me(nvidia backend and nvidia streaming service turn back on when shut down), and i have no other graphics software installed. I had norton Antivirus installed, but i uninstalled it when i started troubleshooting this problem. I also updated directX to version 11 after seeing that problem in the forums a couple of days ago. Unfortunately thats the latest windows 7 is compatible with. I will see if i can prevent the 2 nvidia processes from opening at windows startup. But the may be needed for the graphics card to work. Thank you for the help *Update* EVGA was built into the driver and automatically started in the background with windows, that was what the Nvidia backend was. I have not found a way of stopping it from loading automatically, but by clossing all the Nvidia processes quickly I was able to keep them from starting up again. Once they were gone ENB 0278 did load successfully! thanks again for your help, I don't think i would have figured it out without it. |
