Try this;
http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

and make sure you have no bad clusters before proceeding.
Got the partition set up and win7 installed, and ENB works! On my Nvifia dGPU, at least.

I'm still having some issues getting my eGPU to work, but I've come this far so I'm not giving up now.

When I get my eGPU working I'll report back.

Re: ENB Crashes Fallout Games.

That is good news, i'm curious what your external card will do.

So it looks like Win 8 is the culprit huh, i must admit, i didn't upgrade to Win 8 cause i was weary of it,
that was because i read that they did a lot of implementations that i wasn't sure was going to play nice wih my games and Cubase Music software.
So i don't have much experience with Win 8, just a little from helping friends and clients solve their problems.
But i guess i can do a dual boot install myself just to check out what problems can arise with games and to see if i can get all my stuff working on it.
Always thirsty for knowledge, but i haven´t had much time to check it out yet.

I repair people's PC for a living nowadays, that's why i do have a little knowledge of it, cause i have to.
I'm still silently hoping that DirectX and Win emulation will be better soon on Linux, cause then that would be my nr.1 choice to work with.

will wait for your findings..

Yes, Windows 8 is a nightmare... I would never have bothered with it if my school didn't force it upon me by giving me (making me pay for) a laptop which I need for classes that comes with Win8 preinstalled...

Anyway, I'm awaiting suggestions from somebody on a different forum to help get my eGPU working again, drivers sure can be a pain in the ass.

It sucks being so close to the solution yet still having trouble. Although I must say, if computers have taught me anything it's that if something can go wrong, it will go wrong just to make your life harder.

Edit: Got my eGPU working, now I get a driver display crash every time I start up Fallout... Ugh

Re: ENB Crashes Fallout Games.

OK, so my instinct was right about Win 8.
I still need to install it on one of my PC's though, just to know more about it when i go help people.
But i don't like the idea of having to pay for stuff i don't like, oh well..

Shit, yeah, Fallout can be a bitch to get working ok, but make sure you did the 4GB flag on the exe and put iNumHWThreads=2 in the [GENERAL] section of your ini files, those are always important to make sure if you're on Win7 64-bit.

Pirate it if you don't want to pay.

Anyway, I'm gonna try some tricks and look back into this thread and try some stuff again to get it working.

Edit: Got my eGPU working, .194 and .216 absolutely refuse to work no matter what I do. Injector or wrapper, both freeze as soon as game starts up. .173 works, but now I lost my preset that I spent hours perfecting...

Just found out AMD released new drivers, gonna give those a shot.

And no luck. Guess I'm sticking with .173 for now.

An interesting note, on Win7 I can have my Nvidia dGPU running my laptop screen and my AMD eGPU running my external screen at the same time. On Win8 it's one or the other.

Damn, that's a bummer, does .173 work on Win 8 by the way ?

You didn't backup your tweaked ENB ?
ooooohhhhhh...shit bro....

You also tried older drivers ?

No, no versions of ENB worked on my pc whatsoever. I have more copies of it on my pc back home, but it's only a slightly modified Realism ENB so I got it back already.

I have tried only the 13.4 and 13.9 drivers. I have a feeling that using older drivers will cause more problems than it will solve so until either AMD or Boris fix this bug I'm going to stick with 173.

Re: ENB Crashes Fallout Games.

That could present a problem, cause as far as i know Boris doesn't work with Win8, thankfully by the way, otherwise it might not work on older OS-ses anymore.

Back in the day they vilified Vista, but i have a feeling that Win8 is more of a monster then Vista ever was.

Till two months ago i still played with 13.1 AMD drivers, had no problems with it.
But you might be right, and if 13.4 doesn't work, i doubt 13.1 is going to do the trick.
Still, i myself would try it out, just to see if it works.

Don't forget that you Always need to do a cleanup when installing drivers with Driver cleaner.
The uninstaller of driver packages are known to leave traces of other drivers behind in your system, effectively
mixing different library's of different driver versions when you play your games.

Boris fix this bug
Really? Why don't you fix bugs in win8 or amd drivers yourself? Don't be such smart ass thinking that "great" products are bug free and only my mod is crap.
Btw 0.173 is the last version which work with Afterburner as i remember (because of Afterburner bug, not mine), so...

Huh? I thought that newer versions of ENB and the new AMD drivers had a documented conflict?

And if you read my post I said I would wait until either AMD fixes their drivers or you somehow make the newer ENB binaries compatible with them. You quoted me entirely out of context and that's not at all what I was trying to say. And where exactly did I say AMD has flawless drivers? I hate them and they're a pain in the ass, I'm not pushing the blame onto either you or AMD, it's just a software conflict. As you know I love ENB and your work, I was not trying to be a smartass so if my post came off like that I apologize. No need to be so hostile.

I don't use Afterburner or any tools like those when playing Fallout.

@Marcurios I have a lot of experience with removing AMD drivers now... haha. I'm with you on that, I think Win8 is worse than Vista ever was.
