How can I have more FPS in Skyrim with ENBseries?
I've Skyrim installed with the ENBseries 102 and it fixes a lot of problems with my AMD Radeon 3650, e.g. I can see fire, smoke. However my FPS is too low and I would like to get a higher FPS and use UseIndirectLighting=false. But when I turn it off with UseIndirectLighting=false the game CTD after the loading screen. When I use UseIndirectLighting=true then the game works and it's say SSAO, slow mode, and my FPS is too low (~5 FPS). My video card and my rig isn't very fast but how can I fix my problem? I've Ati Tray Tools and AMD Catalyst 12.1a Preview driver installed. My ENBseries ini-File is from Gionight and I've Skyboost r3.

Try setting to false.
Code: Select all
EnableAmbientOcclusion=true

I did and the game is loading. I would like to know why I can't use UseIndirectLighting=true? When I disable AmbientOcclusion my FPS is much higher.Asskicker wrote:Try settingto false.Code: Select all

First of all get old drivers, your videocard is old. May be latest from catalyst 10.xx or 9.xx will work 10 times better, all newest only good for 5xxx, 6xxx videocards and old on the contrary having more bugs. Why indirect lighting = false not work, don't know, it must.

Are you serious? I put a lot of work to make the newest driver work with my laptop because it isn't supported by the vendor because it is so old. I've a hybrid box and when I install the latest driver it doesn't use the discrete video card (the faster one). But with my patch it works and now you suggest I should go back to the old driver??? I can give it a try but it hurts a bit. By the way do you give the source code for ENBseries for free ? Is it maybe open source? I'm curious what you have done? It's nice work.ENBSeries wrote:First of all get old drivers, your videocard is old. Old videocard -> old drivers. Nothing else permitted, it's the fact and say thanks to ati/nvidia for this. Do you believe they care about old hardware? On the contrary, they will do anything to force you to buy newest and who care about 1% of users with old videocards? It's dirty business.

Sorry, but I've the choice to install a new driver. Most people don't. And the result is good (with your driver). I've also find out how to install new Northbridge and Southbridge driver. But I will try your advice when I've the time.ENBSeries wrote:Old videocard -> old drivers. Nothing else permitted, it's the fact and say thanks to ati/nvidia for this. Re: How can I have more FPS in Skyrim with ENBseries?
Boris, I want to send you a small amount money to save for an ATI card. NVIDIA almost as bad as Bethesda for dirty business. Why do all developers work so close with NVIDIA and ATI gets left behind? Then they charge $100 more for similar capacity video cards. I have ATI 6870 and it's nice, but no one loves ATI cards in the developer business. It's sad, people should always look for the best deal, but they want name-brand all the time. Like iPhone, half the capability twice the price, so dumb... Anyways, I love enbseries for Skyrim so I wanted to donate. I hope one day you get ATI card.

Thanks, but i have no idea how to transfer money from paypal to bank account, so all donations are just in virtual "space" of nowhere, all i can is to pay for hosting or some goods which i don't need because of too high price of posting service. So all i can do is to say thanks and wait when paypal allow to "materialize" money for russians, otherwise buying videocard is completely for my money X_X.
Developers prefer NVidia, because:
* NVidia is more agressive on the market and partially helping to advertise game, both developers and NVidia have profit.
* NVidia helping to test game for many different videocards in their lab.
* NVidia drivers (or videocard) allow to execute code even if it's buggy and absolutely not workable on ATI.
* NVidia have hardware PhysX (if game use this, it's much faster than other physics engines).
From other side, better to develop games on ATI, because if it work on ATI, for sure it will work on NVidia without any problem. Personally i don't like ATI because of more frequent BSODs (some drivers works good), because some features in control panel ruins performance and quality for effects like ssao. Also some small strange things happen like texture coordinate offset 1/128 because of which some effects looks wrong (blinking thin lines or dots may appear on the screen or dynamic "textures"). Another annoying bug is that 3d transformation is computed by not same floating point math as in CPU, hard to remove flickering of decals on the surfaces if they are transformed on CPU (on NVidia transformations on CPU and GPU have same results). I don't like NVidia, because drivers also from time to time bullshit with tons of problems, because they broke support to mine old stereo glasses, they burn 2 my videocards with "special" version of driver (don't remember, one from 18x.xx or 19x.xx, but i changed a lot of dead nvidia cards and had only 2 ati, all were alive for long time). Finally their representatives tried to talk with me about "cooperation" for NVidia only and i'm not satisfied by this.

Re: How can I have more FPS in Skyrim with ENBseries?
