night screen shot, vanilla vs pretty much default enb V0.153

I am pretty darn new to manually modifying enb settings but not new to tweaking things - working with unix system for 14 years as a systems engineer I have done plenty of tweaking/hacking things to work in ways they shouldn't - I just am not familiar yet with these enb settings so I apologize if some of my questions are "academic" to the majority of this audience.

here are images of night time for me in skyrim - without any presets I am not quite sure what to lower in my enb files to make night time really like night time:

Edit: I have read this forum first to last page as well as V0.152 - lots of good comments by quite a few informed people. You must be one hell of a smart young man Boris.

Edit2: I am also having problems with depth of field working properly - tho I have it enabled, and I have also set my fade time to .8 which is how I had defined it to work for me in V0.119. My "close up" portrait of my follower or my character is rather "blurry" I can post images of those as well as I have already made them

thx :D

Re: night screen shot, vanilla vs pretty much default enb V0

Best place to start with making night darker is AmbientLightingIntensityNight along with AmbientLightingCurveNight. Intensity is amount of light and curve is akin to contrast of the ambient light. Lower Intensity and/or increase Curve.

DOF is something I only use for screenshots so I can't be much help there. Much of it depends on which enbeffectprepass.fx you are using though. I believe fadetime only affects the transition speed.

Hi!

i am also very much new on enb using soo your feelings is close in my recollection.

Firstofall i think that the thread is not posted in the right forum section but thats probably just fixed by admin moving so i didnt worry about replying.

what u might like to do is downloading presets for 0.153 . also compare with little older files when updating ur binary.
on forums the users often post their settings and its good to paste that in and see what they are doing or if it is working in conjunction with your other settings.

in the game u can hit shift+enter to get a configuration menu for enb that really helps u. good to use console commands with this. also keeping console open while tweaking ur settings keeps ur camera on one spot also removes triggering ur character to do stuff like hitting npcs.

I think u may be looking for just one setting for what u desribed but. u really end up changing every single value in the ini as u go along. also u change stuff in other ini like the enbeffects.fx and enbprepass.fx the dof one i got is the matso version and it gots places to change ur settings.

good thing about this enb stuff tho is. i always feel i am tweaking the thing to work in the way that it should.. and instead of "shouldnt" :D

Re: night screen shot, vanilla vs pretty much default enb V0

Hey thanks both for the tips - juggled them around a bit and went back through my enbseries.ini and modified all "simillar" settings from my V0.119 and applied them to the v0.153 - ported in my enb pre pass file, and effects file from v0.119 enb.

So basically what I have now is my v0.119 setup with all of the v0.153 options active but at default values. don't know much about the partical, rain, ibl stuff other than what i have read - it looks ok depending on the type of day / weather.. I suppose reading the files is a good place to start anyway

night time is night time and day time is day time again - lol I got that far!

*edit1: you guys both were a big help - tho I spent about 9 hours reading enb fx and ini files
