forgive me if this is not the best category for this thread.. A few years back somebody turned up to our bf1942 community with a gtasa enbseries mod - which happened to work (partially) in battlefield 1942. Bloom worked well and some other features tried to but failed (water reflections sort-of worked too) I don't play a great deal of bf1942 anymore, but there is still active discussion on our modding forum about the finer points of modding the game. One thing that comes up time and time again is the lack of shadows on mesh. The game will only use dynamic shadows on the terrain/heightmap and nothing on mesh. what would be great is to have everything cast and receive shadows. expecting anyone to invest many hours in an enb mod for bf1942 at this point in time, to achieve this, could be a bit ambitious.. ... Maybe then I can give some facts to our ongoing shadow discussions, thanks for your time. |

I suspected it was a difficult task. Thanks for the reply.. Do you mean that 'ethically' you do not want to work on FPS/war games? |

I'm tired from war games, terrorists and other stupid themes. They lead industry and players to degradation, hard to tell which game from that i can modify without having nausea. Perhaps i'm just too old. |

heheh, well I guess I know what you mean. Aside from a few months of Karkand, I have not played much FPS since BF'42. If it's any consolation I wanted to achieve these shadows for a racing mod.. so no guns BF42 uses the Refractor engine, which DICE previously used for Rallysport challenge. The point being that a lot of the guts/scripting from this rally game are still present in 42. So...with bf1942 now free to download.. It's a free, 64 player, easily moddable engine which. aside from the obvious FPS potential, is a solid multiplay / openworld style driving game. It's just lacking shadows. :/ do you take donations? |

I don't do anything for donations and i will not do shadows for any games which i don't like very much, it's too hard task without sources. |

Fair enough. Well thanks for your time to respond, and as I said, even the bloom effect in 1942 was a nice addition to the old game. Improving the old games is where your work makes the biggest impact in my opinion so I hope you keep it up. cheers. |
