Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

Patch updated. Jeez, that was quite a lot of work. I hope I got them all and that I didn't forget files from the downloaded. In case of you issues don't hesitate to let me know.

My endless gratitude for the very detailed bug report, it made my life a lot easier.

Also, Spells now have their own optional component to make it easier to install just those.

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

Thanks mindflux,

I'm glad that it could be fixed, as its been an eye sore for awhile now.

It will be a very noticeable change in caves and dungeons with a lot of fog, where it was unavoidable.
This will make playing as a magic user so much better, not having to look at those dark spheres.

It's very much appreciated.

No problem at all. Like said, don't hesitate to drop a line if something looks odd to your eyes. There was quite a lot of issues to work out and by the end of it all I was getting pretty tired.

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

Hi mindflux,

I noticed one of your mesh (fxcreekflatlong01.nif) is displaying the incorrect texture.
I did some testing and noticed the same mesh is also distorted in SMIM & One Mountain.

After removing the mesh and defaulting to the bethesda original, it displayed correctly.

Tested with no mods or texture packs installed.

Save Game: Skyrim Save
Mesh Location: meshes\effects\fxcreekflatlong01.nif

Thanks, I took a look at the modified mesh but couldn't see anything wrong right away. I will investigate more but it seems like the nif is corrupted and have to be recreated from scratch.

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

It's working great now.

Did the mesh end up being corrupt, and was it hard to edit and save?

I had tried editing the original vanilla mesh to change the texture path from mountainslab01 to mountainslab02.
The end result was the misplaced texture seen in the pic. Also tried editing your new mesh and got same result.

Seems every mod I've come across that tried editing that mesh has the mismatch textures.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

That's great to hear.

It does seem like the nif was indeed corrupted. I have never seen anything like that and really wanted to get to the bottom of the issue so I ended up removing everything else but the cliffs from the nif but the issue persisted. I even tried creating a new shape, shaders and texture set for the cliff geometry, but still got the same issue. In the end I had to give up, take the vanilla nif and redo the modifications manually. I guess we may never know what had happened.

I guess you're using Nifskope for editing? Changing a texture should definitely work without issues unless mountainslab02 is in weird size causing an uv issue.

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

Yes, I'm using NifSkope v1.1.3

My knowledge with NifSkope is fairly limited, but I have edited texture path before without incident.

I did try opening the mesh with NifSkope 2.0 Alpha 4 and got this message.
An MD5 hash comparison indicates this file will not be 100% identical upon saving.
This Could indicate underlying issues with the data in this file.
I guess it's one of those oddities of Skyrim. ;)

Re: Skyrim particle patch for ENB

Possible workaround:

I was able to make changes to fxcreekflatlong01.nif and save it without the texture corruption in game.

After making the changes to texture path, I unchecked "Auto Sanitize before Save" from the file menu before saving.

That seems to work, and after testing in game, I haven't had any issues. The textures displayed as they should.
