AMD Card?

Hey,
I'm buying a new graphics card. And I have the choice between a GTX 650ti and a HD 7850 1 GB. And the 7850 should actually perform better. But a friend said that I shouldn't buy an AMD because the performance with ICEnhancer would be horrible. He showed me a forumthread on how people complaining AMD cards aren't run that good on GTA IV.
My question now: Is there really a negative impact with AMD cards or is this just trash talk? I wanna defently run GTA IV ENB on my computer.

Re: AMD Card?

Simply buy gtx 660 instead of gtx 650 ti. Also 7850 have hardware issues frequently, so if you even choose to buy it, first google this model and vendor for problems.

Re: AMD Card?

Yeah, well...

Of course I googled this card. And there were no problems, expect a friend telling me that GTA IV ENB won't work good on AMD cards. Well, I can't afford a 660. That would be extra 60 $... :?

You told me a about patricular hardware Issues with the 7850. What does this mean?

Re: AMD Card?

Two weeks ago i decided to upgrade hardware and looked on forums and articles about performance, noise level, bugs. 7850 is cheap enough, it's faster than 650ti, but the bugs with these cards are different. Turning off display, bsods, flickering sky, screen in skyrim (texture bugs in 1920*1080 too), artifacts in crysis 2. The worse situation with overclocked models (nvidia gtx 6xx overclocked also have issues, strongly advise not to buy them) and models by some vendors/revisions. Some of these bugs are not fixable and only replacing videocard to other vendor (but again 7850) helped. I don't know about prices in your country, but in russia cheapest hd 7850 cost 20$ less than cheapest gtx 660 and without difference for vendors like msi or gigabyte.
About gta 4 performance with ati cards i only remember that they were much slower and buggy (after some drivers updates was fixed) when game was released.

Re: AMD Card?

Yeah, HD 7850 is a excellent deal. It's very cheap unlike nvidia, with the same performance. I play, mod, boost, test everything with it and I am very proud !
Look at my screenshoots !

Re: AMD Card?

OMG I'm so dumb... Yeah changing the mode to "use application settings" fixes everything.

I'm sorry for wasting your time
