Re: Fallout New Vegas 0.150

Don't want to make real shadows, it's hard without engine sources and even harder in fallout with it's multipass lighting. Amount of errors will be too much, especially for grass/trees/fence and other alpha test objects.

Anything you do make is better than nothing. Even if it's just a little bit more control over the shadows and lighting that we have now already.
But I'm going to stop nagging you for a bit.

Even if these shadows are a bit buggy, they still look amazing, even for such a tiny detail.

Re: Fallout New Vegas 0.150

Finally, dynamic shadows! So beautiful :D

Only thing is that they appear through the first person meshes, like SSAO and DOF (but I remember you saying that's unfixable, so I won't go there...)

I am curious about what new features you plan to implement, aside from optimizations and improving the shadow quality.

Is it possible to do selective motion blur, where if you rotate the camera, the player will be in focus, while the rest of the screen is motion blurred? And maybe overriding more game post-processing effects/shaders, like the in-game DOF?

I'm not trying to make demands/requests, just throwing suggestions out there, to see what's possible from what isn't :)

Great work so far!

Yeah, I definitely have to reinstall the Fallout games now. The one thing I can't stand about going back to play the old games is the lack of any shadowing.

Like everyone else has said, these detail shadows are better than no shadows at all! These at least keep the game from looking so flat and lifeless.

Re: Fallout New Vegas 0.150

Motion blur from rotated camera is possible, but it's ugly and i can't detect at 100% player only model. But the problem is different, dof together with such motion blur looks bad and i have no idea how to make them both work correctly, blurring before dof even worse, blurring jittered fake transparency also horrible.

Screenshot comparison SSAO/SSIL + DOF vs SSAO/SSIL + DOF + Adv. Shadows
Looks pretty good as long as you keep a bit of distance. Alpha layer problems with hair is apparent. Someday I must find out if it is possible to edit those to do away with the problems. If it is easy, I wouldn't mind cleaning up the hair that my characters use...

These shadows are looking a bit odd on faces:

These look terrific on tree's and grass but face close-ups are a no-no at the moment.
