mindflux wrote:I finally decided I'd try to replace the crappy vanilla snowfall effects with proper particle ones, but sadly it looks like it's not going to happen because the game has a stupidly low maximum limit for particles. As a result, the snowfall is never going to be realistically thick, and the particles will abruptly disappear when running or turning around which looks pretty uncool and distracting.

I did however create a small modification to replace the gentle falling snow effect (you know the one with a couple of snow particles weirdly circling on the screen) with a more or less nice looking slow snowfall. If you're interested to check it out, simply copy the attached file to your Skyrim folder. Should be compatible with texture replacers, but be aware that depending on the texture the snow particles might look too transparent or bright. The particles are of course affected by particle settings in ENB.

Well, I guess it looks better in motion...
About the maximum limit for particles, does forcing this setting in skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini get around that or no?

[Particles]
iMaxDesired=750 <--to something like 1500 or more
bForceHighDetailParticles=1
bForceUltraDetailParticles=1
bForceFullLOD=1
bForceFullDetail=1

Re: TES Skyrim

@mindflux - I hear you on the monumental task of updating all weathers to something that is universally usable, I have given up on that about 1000 already but keep coming back. I am at it again with a different workflow, time will tell if it works. I am sad that you believe you won't get it done as your results are truly great and I had (still have) high hopes you would finish and release it! :-)

@far - congrats on the new release! Looks great!

@forest - liking your work a lot!

@joey - hmm, not sure what you have been going for and although I totally understand your point, I have always thought your config looked great! It always displayed a great amount of detail.

@confidence - epic work! Waiting for this one to be released with anticipation. Hope it happens soon!

@all - So many great shots over posted, great work everybody!

A few of my own with the current incarnation of my config and weather mod (where applicable).

Re: TES Skyrim

@Forest: I had that bug too while using the Dof/SSAO toggler, just toggle dof/ssao on and off for a while and it will probably appear.
I worked to obtain a config that looked like that but it's easier to say than to do!

Edit: the Ningheim race is out :) (click to enlarge)

Re: TES Skyrim

so hard to keep up :lol: So much impressive work it inspires one to come back and do some more tweaking. So came back for some more :)

@forest: I have a version that I put up http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89412008/EvoFq3 ... 8.4.13.rar it's not final, don't think I can ever call one final now. but hope you enjoy it.
@Confidence-man: Thank you :) yours isn't a preset any more it's a piece of art. One of the very reasons I came back. would you ever release the work you have done with CK? is it possible even.
@Cruncher: Hey dude ;) and hey Cassandra
@Far327: Cheers bud, Have to say your preset looks better every time. so crisp and fresh now. Defiantly stands out. (Gz on 500 posts :P )
@Jawz: Hey sorry mate I missed your leaving and your return :oops: But good to see your still here

Sorry if I missed anyone out it's hard catching up and remembering everyone, Just say Hey evo you missed me out man.....and I'll get to you :)

I have a photo dump coming. 81 photos in all!!! I'm having a go at real with pp1 and really enjoying it. would appreciate the feedback on the sky as to me it doesn't always sit right.

Re: TES Skyrim

The lighting you guys are able to achieve is simply amazing looking.
Some of the screenshots on this page look almost real.

Seeing such great work discourages me from starting up my preset again.

EvoFq3o0
Nice preset!! Some of the pictures you've posted looks like the real deal. Very impressive. What's the FPS range with your preset?

Unreal
That DOF is looking very cool!

far237
Looking really nice so far! Gonna download it right away...

I'm trying to create something oldschool with my own preset. Far from realistic, more like fantasy...
