I set my tonemapping really high and it solved some of it for me. Gotta find that downsampling post and try it out.

Does Far327 still has his site up? If I recall right he had a some info on downsampling or if it was a link can't remember.

Far's blog - http://faroffmods.wordpress.com/

EDIT:

Just went through his whole blog and did not see any reference to Downsampling. Couldn't remember if you are a ATI or Nvidia user. AMD will always be ATI to me when concerning graphic cards

But I found some articles, haven't tried it myself though.

The old wiz (aka mindflux :D ) is right : gradients do impact banding a lot.
yep, downsampling can get you rig of some of it, but not everything, exactly like dithering.
Whatever the dither method, it didn't get me rid of *all* banding.
Something's happening between gradients, intensities, curves, like a planets's conjunction :D
Whatever the game, anyway, banding will ALWAYS be a curse, I tell you. :(
Some of the best screenarchers I talked with agreed about this, whatever the game, whatever the engine, whatever the DX, well... whatever

OK, now seriously my good sir : what binary are you on ? And, once again (call me bugger !!), I'd really want to take an deep insight at your work.
You have so much consistency here it kills me. And those subtle and chiseled yellows of yours.... ;)

I'm currently porting my own setups to .172 step by step, and these are HUGE steps
Separated bloom, sunrises and sunsets, new sun parameters, will take TIME !
I'm happy I engraved my .168 somewhere....

Looking forward to your bloom Kyo :) Honestly, I can never see bloom in my game...I don't know how to identify it, because when I enable/disable it, I don't see any changes in the image -_-

Yeah, banding is a pain. The higher tonemapping helps though, keeps the sky darker blue, so less changes in brightness and curve are needed for the gradients. I also try to use clouds to cover it up :P
