What's there? Looks totally black to me, but by increasing brightness I can make out some details.

No luck, just try to explain in words.

Since everything looks fine to me I'm suspecting it's got something to do with your display, display settings or the video card settings (the desktop color settings, i.e. brightness, contrast, gamma, etc.)
