It's graphic mod, so it can't give you anything when disabled, except fixes if you own old videocard with buggy particle effects or water. If you want to keep vanilla game look and modify graphics, then difference depends from effects activated, for example shadow modifications.

I have noticed a significant improvement in performance in 183 over both 159 and 168...
