Hello,

I am just curious. Typically I will use SMAA for AA however I did notice at one point when testing other methods a message saying "Hardware AA detected, some features will be disabled and quality lowered."

So, I am wondering what features are disabled when AA is enabled in the launcher or forced in graphics drivers?

I really like SMAA, and it is adequate for the most part, however I would really like the option to use hardware AA at some point as my computer continues to get upgrades and can take the extra stress.

Thanks for the quick answers. I have lately taken to enabling both Edge AA and injected SMAA at the same time, which gives me all the AA I could ever need. :)

Hi

I get bad shimmering/flickering on some objects (fences, grass, woodbeams and such) while moving. Only cure I have found is setting in game AA to 4x or 8x. This of course means that I can't use ENB properly. :| Also have same problem in Fallout New Vegas.

So far tested:

- edge AA and temporal AA from ENB
- injecting SMAA
- various options such as (SG)SSAA from driver
- 2 video cards: GTX 660 and GTX 260
- 2 drivers: 314.22 and 320.49
- fresh skyrim install, hi res texture packs, various ini tweaks..

Anyone else suffering from this issue? Any fix?

It really depends on the config you are using and it's current parameters. I've used new ENB binaries with older configs and I had similar issues to what you described as flickering and such. In the end I had to lower certain values of parameters such as Camera Lens Flare for instance. Also, some Depth of Field add a shimmering effect that in some cases can cause the flickering you describe. Try turning off Depth of Field and see if it helps. You can always edit out this effect or switch to a different depth of field. In the end, I highly doubt AA is fixing anything. It's likely just a side effect of toning down issues which could be solved otherwise. Like you I prefer hardware AA still. It bugs some people more than others. Good luck and hit me up with questions as I am currently making an AA friendly config as well.

Thanks for the reply.

Should have clarified that I've tried many ENB configs from Nexus with and without DoF and other options. I get the shimmering also without ENB so it's only indirectly related. Would really prefer to use SMAA injector as it has lower performance hit and looks good enough (aside from shimmering).
