Re: TES Skyrim 0.199

JawZ
That is true^^

Unreal Warfare
lol I could not see any text in the gui clearly at full res, hopefully easy fix for Boris but im just really happy for the double res atm :D
First time I see working downsampling at all and on a 120hz screen that suppose to not work thru drivers cause of bandwidth in the cable^^

Edit:
Boris
About MPC playback issue, if not done already :>
Maybe try add it manual to nvidia control panel and experiment with some adjustments (pref performance and so on), maybe gfx card is just taking it to easy :)
Cant think of anything else at the moment ^^

I cannot wait to try downsampling!

Re: TES Skyrim 0.199

Having 2560x1440 in skyrimprefs.ini and desktop at 1280x720 allowed me to see the super downsampling feature. Framerate was around 24fps in Riften where I was able to do 42fps with normal 1080p. My PC: i7-3770, AMD 7850 2GB, 8GB XMP 2.4Ghz.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.199

So I've tried driver down sampling now and performance wise it was the same impact at the same resolution of 3840x2160.

Haven't been able to compare the images visually as my windows capturing does not work for some reason, and it's not because I forgot setting the .ini files to allow taking screenshots.

Same here. Well, the performance impact is a bit higher with ENB downsampling.
BUT : the main thing is about refresh rate.
I'm capable of 4K resolution (2160p, wich is basically 4 times 1080p, not 2 times) @58hz with Kepler GPUs.
If using previous generation (Fermi), 4K is doable @31hz.
(not talking about screen's EDID editing).

Downsampling from ENB allows for higher res *WITHOUT* changing refresh rate.
I tried it on Fermi GPUs.

I had to remove my custom 3840x2160 @31hz from Nvidia panel first.
Then set it in SkyrimPrefs.ini
Then enable it in enblocal.ini

No changes in refresh rate, and yes was working.

Boris
You're definitely on something here. I'd be curious about setable resolutions right in enblocal.ini (1440p, 1620p, 1800p, etc...) and would there be a way to have it overwriting the game's resolution in SkyrimPrefs.ini ?
Reminds me about what Durante did for Dark Souls game with DSFix :
You can set an "internal" resolution first, then an "external" resolution.
So basically you're setting for example 4K as internal rendering (no impact on refresh rate), then via drivers you set your actual downsampling to another res, like 1800p i.e.(at the refresh rate your drivers/screen will support)
Works perfect with DSFix.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.199

Oyama;

I was not referring to pixel amount or whatever, but 1080 * 2 = 2160 and 1920 * 2 = 3840 to put in as a resolution number while keeping the aspect ratio of 16:9.

And yes forgot to mention that part, no need to compensate screen resolution increase by lowering the refresh rate while using ENB downsampling, I could use the 2160p res with my 120 Hz activated without a problem, but with driver downsampling I had to go down to 30 Hz with the same resolution.

my screenshots end up in the skyrim folder when clicking print screen, just like the enb ones when I click insert. So it is skyrim´s screencapture (maybe need to hold it in for a sec or two) :>
Didnt do anything except setting res in skyrimprefs and turning the effect on :>
level up text is there I just used tm for the screenshots, hopefully it can be moved or removed somehow with CK :)
Either way double res is more for screenshots anyhow ^^

Boris has one with improved performance I think, if I got that last post right ^^

I wasn't implying, my friend :D
30 Hz ? What GPU are you on ?

Yersinia79
4K is definitely for screenshots, but if Boris allows for setable resolution, 1440p a/o 1620p are plainly playable, especially if he improves the performance. ;)

Re: TES Skyrim 0.199

Yersinia79;

Yeah I know that but it simply doesn't work it does not capture a thing, even when I try the method of pasting it into a photo editing tool (Paint, Photoshop) it does not contain any data to be pasted in the print screen "buffer" or whatever it is.
I know it worked before as I did a comparison between different capturing methods like Windows, ENB, Fraps, DXtory and some other programs to see which captured it all and to see any visual difference, if there was any.

Tried to press it a bounce of time with short intermission between the keypress'es and holding it down, simply won't work. Even tried generating new files and only set the floatpoint and the shadows to it's proper values and double checked that the screenshot was set to 1. No luck.

Screenarchery for sure, as you would need a beast of a machine to be able to enjoy good playable frame rates with downsampling running.

Oyama;

Just wanted to be clear on what I meant ;)

It was just the first test refresh rate i set to with the 2160p res, which worked right away. Using a ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II 4GB, through a displayport to a Samsung S27A950D if it's worth mentioning.

That is really odd, not sure then really :>
