Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

Tested 0.206 several runs, the tiny 0.5 sec spikes in certain spots have less impact at lower SSAO and/or other settings.
I think most will get these at 1.0 and up at these places :>
Here is a couple:
SSAO: 1.5/1.0
Image
SSAO: 1.0/1.0
Image
Performance is just amazing^^

Settings:
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=true
ReservedMemorySizeMb=256
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableVSync=false
WaitBusyRenderer=false
EnableFPSLimit=true
FPSLimit=60.0
FixPhysics=true

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

On Nexus users complain that version 0.206 is very slow for them, even on Titan. This is madness, simply can't be if nothing is corrupted. All existing versions are bad whatever i do. Could someone help to find out if it's some software or d3d9 based mods doing dirty things or what? I tried everything which is correct for any normal game, restoring simplest code of old versions which allocate video memory and if it can't then start to use system - bad idea only for temporary purposes, don't want to return to it. May be it's some kind of bug with amount of vram computed by me for videocards with 6 gb? Don't know.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

Hi. Well, I can say that I've played Skyrim for the very first time =] I've added the iTexMipMapSkip=1 and everything is just smooooth. I went to that on-line .ini generator and created an "ultra" ini and went back to play with ugrids7 and heavy shadows, all good, except for the fact I had CTD twice, once in the water and other running away, but since I changed my inis, I cant point the problem right now. Will change back and test again.

One question, if I may: The new inis have all sort of thread settings, and so I wonder, is there any conflicts or potential problems with ENB and those settings?

REALLY thanks, Boris.

I am a regular over on Nexus. I spend a lot of time troubleshooting for other users. Most haven't a clue as to even how to operate their PC, let alone install mods or ENB. I saw that post for the guy with the TITAN, they didn't give much info besides "1 fps" :roll: I'll read through the Nexus comments, ask some other regulars their opinion.

You might link in big letters --JaWz-- guide to ENB. [http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/39742/?] That might help a little, at least for those users who decide to educate themselves how to tweak to their hardware and use ENB to its fullest.

v0.206 Still a little stuttery, but I think you are getting somewhere.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

Maverick827 with Titan posted he's using RealVision ENB, and RVENB said not use the ENBoost mod file since RVENB included it. He should post his 1fps issue on RVENB page not on ENBoost page. He must have overwrote RVENB's enblocal.ini file, and who knows what.

UPDATE: OMG, RealVision ENB has this, so Titan guy might put 1024 since his card has lots of VRAM.
for 0.201 / 0.202 / 0.206 d3d9.dll users:
Set ReservedMemorySizeMb in enblocal.ini accordingly to VRAM amounts.
512 - 1024MB is for 3GB - 4GB cards.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

Boris

When I first load up my framerate is pretty epically bad. FPS is ok if I look at the floor, then I get around 60. But if point the camera anywhere with lots of textures I get ~1 FPS, and lighting starts to go crazy and flickery.

The weird thing is if I alt-tab out of the game, and back again. There's a little more stutter and then things smooth right out, flattening around 30-40 FPS for me (in Whiterun). I have lots of large texture pack mods.

I tried simply waiting to see if my framerate would recover on its own, but it's only alt-tab that makes a difference.

I'm using the RealVisionENB mod which provides these settings by default:
[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=true
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=512
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false

I don't think that somebody from modders know what most setting means and this engine is from story "it works? don't touch then!", especially multithreading related (they even sounds silly for those who know how game engines works).

skysan4298
Latest versions don't have any dependency between amount of vram and ReservedMemorySize, 1024 just give more frequent crashes as those 1 gb of ram will be used.

Asmodae
and lighting starts to go crazy and flickery
If this what i think it is, then multithreading bug. Why it happen even with my fix for this?

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

update:

I deleted RealVisionENB, and just ran stock .206 and got the same behavior (except for the lighting thing).
Right after loading my save game, framerate was lousy, around 1-5 when looking at any scene with a fair amount of textures in it (although no lighting weirdness, clearly that's RVENB related).

When I alt-tab out of Skyrim and back into game again, screaming smooth, 60 FPS.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.206

I have a Titan and it hasn't been slow with 206. My FPS is never great to begin with what with intensive enbs like Somber and using downsampling (hardware) and lots of grass/foliage mods ... but its better with 206 then any previous version, on average. I do use sweetFX for some ENBS but that's it for additional ones. Not sure if that would impact.

I have been testing on and off since 206 came out and its been great for me. Very stable. I also have kept reserved memory to 512 and disabled any Vsync. No idea why but enabling seems to be causing some of the lag spikes.

Don't know why it take much time to load, if this version should not. What about 0.205 and 0.204, do they both have long loading times and oldest (may be 0.201) shorter? Then you did something to skyrimprefs.ini threads setting and my protection stop other threads.
.201 was short on load times and didn't have the issue with my fps dropping to 1-5. I had issues with 204 and 205. However it wasn't till you advised, in one of your replies, to not go over 512 for the reserved memory, that I stuck with 512 so that might have had an impact as I switched to that only recently. For a short time I had some thread settings in my INI but rebuilt skyrim from scratch on monday morning and have kept my INI files pure outside of the standard ENB changes ... but prior to that might have been an issue.

I admit testing can be difficult at times as I am not always sure what impacts what ... so the comments are greatly appreciated as the more I understand the better the testing. I am trying to keep my settings very basic and standard right now.
