Re: TES Skyrim 0.212

Boris

It's probably because we use more texture and model mods. High Res textures from Bethesda are crap and absoluterly not representative of Skyrim gamers.

To have a real idea what a most of us are playing with, check this : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801//?

Often added to this, some models and textures for players. For example :

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6709/?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2488/?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10168/?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13722/?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19623/?

With lighting improvements :

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17609/?

And finally, if you want to stress more your rig, you can use this :

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30520//?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27427/?
+
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9185/?

This combo is safe, script free, and representative of most gamers. Only texture/meshes changes, and some assets added. I never CTDed with this only.

If you don't want to take time installing mods, you can still have a good idea by installing only this, even if an older version (remove SMIM and Flora Overhaul first and unload High Res Texture Pack esp files (you can add BSAs to your skyrim.ini to make Bethesda HiRes textures loaded before the texture pack)) :
http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/elder ... -mods.html

Then, we have to be responsible and take into account our rig. For example, use http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801/? to compress/resize textures and not using too demanding settings/enb.

Don't want to bother you, Boris, but may be freezes, ILS and CTDs occur because too much objects in cell loaded? Try to install Open Cities/Expanded Towns and Cities/Towns and Villages Enahnced (Last one is adding many clutter and flora objects in game) and load/save here (in Whiterun for example), enter to combat, etc...

Re: TES Skyrim 0.212

Hey guys, I have 3 questions:

1. How well does SLI scale in Skyrim?

2. How well does ENB work in SLI?

3. How well does the memory reducing feature work in SLI?

Thanks. :D

SLI is basically pointless as the games are made for Single-GPU settings. SLI may help increase performance at any rate and I don't know about scaling or the effect it has on ENB as I don't use SLI. Although, I do believe that it is NOT recommended to use.

That may be the case, but it's NOT related to ENB. All CTD's are the cause of over-loaded computers and uGrids tweaks mixed with Bethesda's "Stability and Performance" tweaks.

Personally, I've only had issues when I set uGrids higher than the default setting. ENB or not, it makes no difference. ENB may help reduce the time it takes for me to CTD, but it doesn't remove CTDs.

Yes It can be a cause. Town And Villages Enhanced is a good (and safer) test to know if it's a too big number of cells loaded for the game engine.
Texture Pack Combiner and others (see my above post) is good to know if it's linked to too much demanding ressources for rig/engine.

DaemonWhite

I'll add that with my modded Skyrim (skyrim config nearly not modified (just optimized shadows and loaded extra BSAs)), absolutely no issue with 0.211 and Chidosity ENB v2.
With 0.212 and Unreal Cinema ENB, a few infinite freezes and 1 CTD near Riverwood (Town and Villages Enhanced). Will test another time, as I saw that enbreference.esp was loaded.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.212

I will not install any mods to test, it's not my problem and definetly no one mod can be compared to 256 mb of vram while everybody with ctds use 1,2 or 3 gb and this not including non local video memory. I fixed issues with memory and don't care about anything else.

1. Very well, nearly 180% I would guess
2. Can't say it would work worse than without SLI, seems to work very well in my experience (at least the problems are not SLI related)
3. I guess not worse than without SLI since the memory is mirrored between both VRAMs anyway (Boris might correct me about this, don't know...)

The problem with CTD could be different than just memory issues - i definitely think it's something with many objects loading and processing. Nobody doesn't ask you to fix that or fix mods or so, but it would be great if you can confirm and write in nexus something like that "ENBoost doesn't resolve CTD and ILS when too many objects in cell loaded". I think it will greatly reduce any CTD/freezes spam.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.212

Just a quick tip I found out for optimizing my FPS Stuttering (when in Fullscreen), giving me constantly 60 FPS.
I set DisablePreloadToVRAM=true while having Skyrim on an very fast SSD.

While having it on false I often noticed stuttering as my VRAM ran at 99/100% all the time, which made me think the unloading and reloading of textures is causing the stutter.
With this parameter set to true my VRAM stays at around 85% to 90% (having 1,5 GByte VRAM), giving me very nice fps even while doing 180° turns.

I'm pretty sure this won't work as good on normal harddisks, but SSD-Owners might definitely want to give this a try.

I'm currently using Phinix Natural ENB, which is IMO the best enb profile currently available, especially because of the comments in the ini-files.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.212

Hey Boris love you enb modifications,

anyway i've got a problem with reflections and ambient oclussion

Whenever i enable one or the other the fog gets brightened in the distance. I've got a gif to show you what i mean:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/542/wic.gif/

Could you be so kind to look into this and tell me how to fix this? I'd love to use your reflections if i could just get rid of this problem.
