Its been so long I can't remember anything... and I am stunned by how much Boris has added to ENB - so I feel totally out of my depth.
Anyway, I liked this one... but am blown-away by what you guys are doing...... having said that, and not wishing to sound an ass - looking at the first few pages, there are some shots that have never been bettered, despite all the added features etc.... but that is Gio for you

Re: TES Skyrim
I wouldn't say it's unique as the base wasn't mine to begin with, it's 'just' one of Opethfeldt's recent Enbs with slightly different color levels, palette, ssao, ssil, reflections, bloom and speculars.midhras wrote:Wow, that's both amazing and pretty unique kaffeekranz. I'm not familiar with your work but I'll be hunting down your shots sometime. What's your nick on imgur?
Just insane things on top of Opethfeldt's great work.
No nick on imgur though, I just think it's the most comfortable and not ad overloaded image hoster.
Wait a second, I'll C/P them.WoodsOfYpres wrote:kaffeekranz
Great pics! Do you use reflections? I'm interested in the settings for the reflections you're using. That steel-axe in one of your images looks damn sexy!
I'd be careful though about dialing in too excessive amounts of reflections.. I like everything shiny but I'd say I'm actually using too much of them and IBL/SSIL adds to that as well.
Code: Select all
[REFLECTION]
Quality=-1
FilterQuality=0
FilterBluriness=0.0
SizeScale=1.0
SourceTexturesScale=1.0
Amount=2.35
Power=0.7
GlosinessMin=1.0
GlosinessMax=0.0
EnableDenoiser=true
DenoiserType=0
EnableSupersampling=true
ExteriorEnable=true
InteriorEnable=true

Thanks man! I've been experimenting with reflections but always used it in small doses.

To heavy reflections can get quiet problematic on some hairs
Not on the Default ones they are to flat anyways, but this way you can actually easily see where and how Boris applies them if you check the specular maps and then fine tune them based on your settings.

Re: TES Skyrim
So many great screenshots these past few pages. They make me want to work even harder on my preset. Lately I've been scavenging the forums for as much advice as possible. I'd like to touch upon some presets and gain further insight. Forgive me if I'm wrong about anything:
@midhras: Simply beautiful scenes with great camerawork. Your portrait and landscape-style shots make your work look very professional and I wouldn't be surprised if they become a trend here.
@WoodsOfYpres: I love the clarity/realistic look of your scenes. Did you use Opethfeldt's config as a base by chance? If so, I find it interesting that he has consistently used a low brightness value in his enbeffect.fx while amping up direct/ambient lighting intensities for days in enbseries.ini. I'm guessing that turning off vanilla color correction helps achieve this look as well. Must experiment.
@insomnia_jt: That's a beautiful cinematic effect. The dark shadows and bloom make your scenes look dreamy. I'm guessing this look is achieved with a slightly dark palette and/or a good amount of tone mapping? Is the HD6 enbeffect.fx required or at least recommended for this look?
@kaffekranz: I really like your dark shadows. There seems to be a very slight haze (not exactly sure) that gives your landscapes a painterly look to them. Like WoodsofYpres mentioned, your reflections really make your metals stand out.
@Dogstar: The quest for maximum image quality is not easy indeed. I guess that's what makes ENBSeries so fun to tweak, though.

I'm actually using EVGA Precision X v4.2.0.2143 and it's working perfectly fine with past versions of ENBSeries up to v0.209. I applied a small OC of 23 MHz on the GPU clock and my EVGA GTX 660 boosts up to 1130~ MHz, which is verified by GPU-Z. In Nvidia control panel, Prefer maximum performance is set for the Power management mode. This is to reduce hitching in games, although my PC becomes a bit of a power hog.midhras wrote:While on the subject of OC'ing graphics cards (which I never did): ENB prevents the use of overlay programs such as EVGA Precision. What do you people use to overclock your cards while playing with an ENB config?

BSnake
Thanks, a dreamy kind of surrealistic approach is what I'm trying to achieve. The palette is the default palette, but I'm doing some tonemapping in both enbeffect and with SweetFX cinema filters.

Re: TES Skyrim
Thanks for the kind words BSnake. For some reason a post from someone that isn't afraid to talk or inquire about what he likes is something that makes a screenshot thread like this one ever so much more interesting to me. So thanks for that as well.
And your words about overclocking are grounds for a third 'thank you'. I've never delved into GPU oc'ing, and I have to read more about what the actual benefits are and if they outweigh the risks, but knowing that it can work alongside ENB is a good place to start from.
Shots. I've been messing with anamorphic portraits to see if I can go for even more narrow shots. Interesting to shoot like that. Entirely new challenges and opportunities!

Cropping?
By the way, Midhras, I love your pictures.
This a little more artistic approach is what fascinates me about Deadendthrills.

Re: TES Skyrim
I never crop (in Skyrim... I did in Dark Souls, before I learned about ways to do without cropping).
These shots are downsampled from 1600x3760 to 1080x2538 (45.5% of the original area). I run my game in a window of the resolution and aspect ratio described, and then use the SRWE program to fit the game to my desktop. I've written an article about its use here.
I tilt my monitor to play. I usually play at 9:16 AR when I tilt my monitor, but now I tried it with a 1:2.35 AR for fun. And it is a lot of fun.
EDIT: Oh, and thanks kaffeekranz.
