Hi guys,

Sadly ENB-series (Richard Burns Rallye Version) doesn't work under Windows 8 and 8.1 for rFactor.

It doesn't crash or something like that, it just seems not to load the "d3d9.dll" file in rFactor-folder properly.

Launching with admin-rights or in compatibility-mode doesn't help.

Has anybody an idea or solution on fixing this...?

This is the only reason why i am still running Windows 7.
Original rFactor is a little bit to pale and dark for my taste.

Thank you so much for confirming this for me. I just installed RSRBR/LFS/RFactor and was just about to go crazy trying to figure out why I couldnt get ENB working when I couldn't find anyone else on google who had the same problem.

If anyone knows compatible ENB's for these games + win8.1 please post.

I'm not running Win 8.1 and now I'm glad I'm not. Try my ENB for LFS, see if it works. https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=81230

ALSO. The latest patch for LFS runs in DX9 native, so try that: https://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php ... ost1842227

Hello,
i guess i know whats causing the issue (i guess with most of the games what have problems with enbseries after windows 8, rfactor is not the only one!!)

8/16-bit display color modes are not supported in Windows 8, while they were supported in all previous OSes.

and WIndows 8 and above does somehow automatically apply application compatibilty to the exe files, that look the following: DWM8And16BitMitigation

you can find this in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\

an very interesting thing i found out is that if you just rename the rfactor.exe file to rfactor1.exe enb series loads fine (but you cant start a race because the game crashes than, but still you see the enbseries dll loading on the start and notice the difference on the car in the main menu!

as soon as you activate anything in the compatibilty tab in the properties of the exe file windows automatically starts to add the DWM8And16BitMigration Keyword, what i presume to break the successfull load of the d3d9 enb dll!

i didn't found anything on the internet how to stop windows from doing that!
