Now I can see the ENB status messages on screen I think it is safe to say I am not having a problem that is specific to ENB 0.251 - I have a general issue with using any ENB dll on this install.
EDIT - off to try the Injector version.
EDIT2 - identical results with the Injector - I see the ENB status text, the logo fades and CTD.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251
The intro sequence is just a .bik movie. I'm guessing you haven't done this yet:DanielCoffey wrote:I have a little more info... I removed the SRLE tweak "sIntroSequence=" from the .ini file and noticed that I got the 0.251 ENB white text message on screen with the 780ti correctly detected. The Bethesda logo faded in and faded out and THEN it crashed to desktop. What event is happening after the logo fades out?

Yes, the ini files were new because this is a clean install. I just moved them again and the launcher recreated them and it crashed in exactly the same place.
I also went into the Win8.1 Task manager - Startup pane and disabled all except Kaspersky and there was no change.
Do I need anything installed to play .bik? I have Flash but not Shockwave since it is a clean install.

I asked because there are no "tweaks" in a fresh set of INIs. Have you tried setting enbhost.exe to run with administrative privileges? To see if something is shutting down Skyrim because of enbhost.exe, you can remove it from your Skyrim directory. You'll get a message in the main menu that says enbhost.exe wasn't loaded, but if that's the cause of your problems, at least the menu will load without crashing.DanielCoffey wrote:Yes, the ini files were new because this is a clean install. Re: TES Skyrim 0.251
Setting ENBHost.exe to run with admin simply locked up the skyrim launcher - the cursor would not respond and I had to terminate the launcher. I then removed enbhost.exe from the skyrim directory and it still started the enb and then crashed as before.

Do you have any antivirus crapware installed?

I use Kaspersky Pure 3.0 but even when I disabled all its modules I still got the crash. Tomorrow I will do a clean 8.1 install on a spare drive and troubleshoot. If it still crashes I will go back to Win7-64.

Earlier you said that 0.236 worked fine but 0.251 crashes. If that's true, it's highly unlikely that reinstalling your operating system will accomplish anything except compromise your ability to test this problem.DanielCoffey wrote:I use Kaspersky Pure 3.0 but even when I disabled all its modules I still got the crash. I believe the only file that causes problems with antivirus software is enbhost.exe. If you add it as an exception to your AV software and set it to run with administrative privileges, you're fine on that front. In any event, you tested without enbhost.exe and it still crashed, so that's not your issue. I would suggest looking for any files left over from other ENBs and remove them. Then test with the basic ENB files that come with the binaries to see if it loads up without crashing.
As others have said, certain programs can interfere with ENB. It might be helpful to see a list of processes that are active when you are experiencing these crashes to see if anyone can identify any obvious culprits.

I use Win 8.1 x64 and Mod Organizer without issue. Is it a new PC? You might have bad RAM.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251
The Mod Organizer user on my ENB preset mod reported a similar crash, and his issue was not modifying the right Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files. He's been modifying the MyDoc ini files, but the Mod Organizer had its own Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files. When he modified the Mod Origanizer's files especially the bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 flag his Skyrim stabilized.
