Re: TES Skyrim 0.251

Well.. it seems to be working now. Not sure what I did different this time. Thanks Aleanne. :D

With luck the radiation leak has been fixed too, I haven't spotted another one yet at least. I'll post again if I find another one of those illuminated mist banks.

The only thing you need are the files from the Serenity download, and d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe from this site. You are seeing that overlay because you copied too many files from the enb file, namely enblensmask.png which you should delete. No need to reinstall.

And I can't believe somebody used E ENB and 'fantastic lighting' in the same sentence.

I know, it has happened only twice to my knowledge.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251

The enblensmask.png should make no difference at all, because lenseffects are set to off by default for Serenity. When you set that to on, then you might watch Boris' incredible monster gang on your screen :-)

So two possibilities remain: Either you set lenseffects to on in the enb config or you haven't installed Serenity ENB correctly and you are using Boris' default ENB setup.

This is from the description page of E ENB, copied and pasted. First bit of plain text actually.
before now someone asks me why: this is a no realistic enb. This is fantasy. just like the game.
So if you're searching for a Vanilla enhancer, you won't find it here.
I used E ENB for 5 months, from April to September of 2013. It's gotten a lot more realistic and it was growing more so toward the end of my time using it. However, it started off VERY fantasy. And just look at the screenshots provided. It's a fantasy preset. It's good, but the lighting is "fantasy" or "fantastic." Fantastic was not intended as being extraordinary or extremely good. I meant "fantasy." It's a pretty good preset as it is though. Like I said, used it for 5 months.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251

its all about taste and perceiving what is realistic to the individual. most of the ENB presets are bog dull in stock form, spend sometime tweaking can turn out great to its own. also it depends on what mods you have, type of monitor and calibration plays a factor in it.

Sigurd44 wrote:As Jafin said, for me at moment it's Serenity all the way. If interiors might be a bit too dark for you, well, therefore you have ambient and pointlighting settings for interior day/night. If you like more halo or brightness of light sources itself, adjust particle lighting settings.

Your SFO flowers and tundra grass is way too saturated and colorful ? get Serenity ENB.

Concerned about the .esp flood of mod files and patch files that comes with using CoT? Get Serenity and use vanilla weather system. Complexity for weather is nice, being able to allocate slots and performance loss caused by the bunch of CoT mods and patch mods into other stuff is priceless.

hmmm, and I will have a look myself on the Skyrim Relighting mod Jafin told about.
I have another Serenity ENB question, seeing as there are so many experts about it here. I am using the lighter mod flavor of Serenity to reduce FPS a bit. I think it's great looking and keeps my FPS above 40, outdoors. However, there is one annoying little setting that I've been trying to undo. Serenity (lite) seems to overide Skyrim's .ini settings regarding the drawing distance of certain objects, most notably buildings.

I've searched Serenity's ENB files, but I cannot seem to locate a related switch or setting that controls this. Is it Serenity's ESP that does this?

I would rather not install & downtweak the heavier versions of Serenity, which probably do have that drawing distance set correctly. So far I think lite looks great, I have little reason to switch to something prettier. Yet. I would like to keep it that way.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251

Tricky
Serenity has no .esp file, nor does it have any file that would change the draw distance. I've never used the performance version but as far as I'm aware it's simply got scaled down SSAO, reflections off and DoF either quality turned down or off. There shouldn't be anything that actually changes the draw distance. It's likely something weird on your end, but I'd recommend heading over to Serenity's Nexus page and asking. Prod80 from here is the same as prod80 over there who is the author of the preset. He's good about answering questions and may have the answer you're looking for as no one knows the preset better than him. Double-check your .ini files though just to make sure you didn't accidentally change something.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.251

I don't do anything with draw distance (ENB can't) so not sure what is happening. Some uploaded ini files mess with draw distance... ENB is used best with Skyrim default ini's with perhaps minor tweaks left and right based on what some mods need, but no giant ini file overhaul. At least that's my experience.. the full version of serenity does nothing more than the lite, it just has all the bells and whistles set on higher quality. Enabled effects besides reflection are the same.

Hm, ok. I'll try restoring some old .ini's and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for dropping by and giving input. :)
