Re: Dark Souls 2 v0256

I've been trying as well.

Seeing as no other ENB except the generic one worked with DS2 for me, I thought I'd try it the other way around:

I used the DS2 ENB version on other games to see whether they would crash for me, or not. And nope, they work fine.
Of course there's no graphical improvement since nothing works, not even brightness controls, but the game loads and various config options such as fps caps, vsync, etc do.
One interesting thing to note is that the DS2 ENB version produced a similar pinkish shimmer on games using the UE. I've tried it with Remember Me and Goat Simulator.
Remember Me did crash once though, not sure who's fault it was, spitting out an error message concerning 'kernelbase.dll'.

Besides that I've tried uninstalling pretty much everything I have here and reinstalling again (including DS2), several new vcredist packages, DX9, I've checked various files for dependencies, I've been doing a "sfc /scannow" and a DISM. Nothing helps.

It works fine for me no CTDs.
Just the SSAO issues.

Re: Dark Souls 2 v0256

Hello everyone.

Is there a way to refresh the configuration / shaders without going to AntTweakBar all the time and press Apply?

Or did you guys manage to find how to go to a menu that allows to click on stuff without going to actual gameplay?

This is very annoying to tweak things and alt+tab to move the entire camera just to press Apply to see the changes on a shader, I didn't even know Boris removed Backspace but it makes sense I suppose but It feels so inconvenient when you edit the .fx files... o.o at least to me

In other news,
Boris, the bloom texture does not seem to have a large range on my machine.
Maybe it's me but I have to use an extremely small value like 0.02f to affect the original bloom texture image compared to values like 1.0f or whatever normally with some HDR textures if it makes sense

I didn't run over many issues so far, even if I just tried for like few hours only yet.
Only the SSAO reducing its intensity depending of where you look and the godrays that are gone.

For the rest it's pretty cool! The latest ENB I used was like the 0.168.
Things has changed for sure! :P

Thank you very much for your work, the game is actually more interesting to look at just because of your AO!

For people with CTDs you should delete everything in the game exe folder keeping only the 5 big files and the movie and sound folders.
Them make steam re-install/Recheck the game files.
Steam should them make a 40mb download to install the missing files.

Doesn't change a thing.
The files are all fine, double- and triple-checked.

Re: Dark Souls 2 v0256

I just signed up to say thank you Boris! :D This mod makes DS2 look gorgeous like the E3 demo. I've played through a good portion of the early game so far and playing from the start with these graphics make the game a whole nother experience. The difference between vanilla and ENB is like night and day.

But to echo a few others here I am having random CTD still too. I've been following the pieces of advice through the threads but to no avail. One thing I did notice was that when I turned off just about all my running applications, anti virus, firewall, torrent, ISO, audio enhancer, etc. I could get the game to run longer and boot more often without crashing; but it still crashes a lot for me.

Though sometimes the games does boot with everything running :?: the crashes are kinda random...

I am enjoying the game but the I sort of hit a snag in the darker areas. The lighting is awesome but I think it was a silly design choice not to just let the player just strap the torch to the player so you could fight in the dark. What a shame...I would kill for that...to bad the games not moddable...

Re: Dark Souls 2 v0256

Okay, at least one issue found, game do not have some mipmap levels or use them for specific computations, so pink colors occur when forcing anisitropic filtering. I'll remove this feature in next update.

Flickering of ambient occlusion will be fixed only when i find the places where this occur, i don't see them.

bardack01
Never paid attention to rays, except dynamic from sun which are visible with and without mod, will check what is wrong.

hotrails
I'll make screenshots of my ambient occlusion and may be video a bit later.

midhras
I'll check what is wrong with ambient curve night.

kalicola
Default light around character was not removed, i want to, but don't know alternatives to that as game don't use lightmaps or any other light emitters, playing in absolute darkness isn't great.
The dark screen for me happen too, but at very short period, hard to debug.

CyberPunked
Does this ENB currently have light detection?
Kind of.

icelaglace
I removed backspace button, because previously game called device reset at no reason while editing presets, did workaround for that, but forgot to restore backspace key (i thought game simulate it).
Bloom may be "wrong" because image brightness of the game is much lower than other games? It's very dark, you may see that by direct output without tonemapping.

The crashes... I will do several test builds with some parts of code disabled, this is the only way i can find out what may be wrong, so check the forum from time to time for testing.

VAC can ban you because of ENBSeries even if it check what is is game process modified. We don't know how the algorithm works, but it's very famous for wrong bans.

Re: Dark Souls 2 v0256

Boris, for me the AO flickers in the main hub area (majula) also. Im sure you have played the game at least that far. If you test rotating the camera up and down while moving happens to me ocasionally. Try also running from the far end of the cliff where that obelisk-statue is to the houses and the AO flicker for me at least a few times. It flickers also usually if you go through doors or into houses.

I know I posted this link already but check out the beginning of wickfuts video (if you haven't already) and you can clearly see the AO flickering when he climbs up the ladders and when he goes in to the room:
http://youtu.be/edKCQONW4Fg

Also I noticed that you cant use the mousewheel in the latest version with the in-game setting list anymore. Also NumPad seems to be disabled now also with setting values. Also if God-rays can be added back that would be really awesome.

But thanks Boris for your hard work! Really appreciate it!
