Hello,
I am aware that ENB is resource hungry and accepted poor performance thinking my setup could be kinda weak for Skyrim (laptop card with high resolution screen) but when I compare with and without it (shift + F12) I find the fps drop just too big.
I have an average of 45 fps in game and when I activate ENB it drops to an average of 15 fps. Is that normal ?
When I disable one by one all of the ENB effects it will only improve my fps by 2-3.
I spent dozens of hours searching the net (including here) trying to tweak ini files and ENB settings...
Basic specs :
Proc : Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.1GHz / RAM 8Gb
Graphics : AMD Radeon 6970M 2Gb @ 2560x1440
ENB v.264 - custom settings based off a popular profile (can't remember the name)
I will post additional info if needed.
Thanks.

Re: (Skyrim) Huge fps drop with ENB
Your System is much too slow for 2560x1440.
I dunno if it's driver related (GPU usage) or there is somethin' wrong with you Skyrim/ENB settings.
E.g.: I sold my old System and bought a "new" one.
Only the 10.2 Legacy ATI Driver works with Windumb 7 64bit (ATi X850XT).
I've wasted some much time to find the right driver.
I even spend about +100 hours to understand how things work in Skyrim with ENB.
Just read, read, read and test the settings, mods over and over again...
Check your system with 3D Mark 11/Skyrim ENB and compare it to other laptops like yours.

As stated above your system will have a hard time even at 1080p so just forget about 1440p. If you still must play at that resolution you should disable dof, reflections, ssao, detailed shadows, water and perhaps skylighting if you want your fps to stay above 30.

Re: (Skyrim) Huge fps drop with ENB
Do you mean that my hardware is too slow to handle a resolution that high or that it should be performing better ?
My setup is 3 and a half year old and runs other games well.
My score in 3DMark11 : P3614
Edit : Ok well 1440p is the native resolution of my screen so anything lower doesn't look so good ;(
Like I said even if I turn off all ENB effects in the console it doesn't make much of a difference until I actually disable ENB completely (Shift + F12)

Your rig is too weak to handle ENB at that resolution. Its probably enough for 1440p in other games with no ENB.
Edit: There are plenty of performance presets out there. The best ENB performance wise is Stakados Cinemascope near to zero performance loss ENB. But it requires ENB .108 which is ancient now.

Re: (Skyrim) Huge fps drop with ENB
So I tried at 1080p and get a boost of 4-5 average. So barely reaching 20 fps. Still thats 1/3 of my FPS without ENB...
Is everyone getting such a big hit ?

With my rig with ssao quality at high and dof enabled Im getting 20-25 fps @ 1080p. Grass density at 75 and vurts flora overhaul.

Ok and without ENB ? It's the gap that I find disturbing.Insomnia wrote:With my rig with ssao quality at high and dof enabled Im getting 20-25 fps @ 1080p. Grass density at 75 and vurts flora overhaul.

I guess you are a rookie in PC games and graphic mods.
It must be your first experience with ENB, right?
So, google might be your friend. READ!
It's much to complex to explain this great work that Boris and the ENB team did.
WHAT do you expect of a graphic mod like that?
Have a look on Half Life 2 with Cinematic Mod.
A ~ 47GB graphic mod and now tell somebody why your old laptop can't run this game.
Sorry, your laptop is totally crap for games like that.
GET IT! Period.
btw. You know what,,, the gaming industry is totally crap too.
They are just money grabbing bastards, who release shitty graphic drivers and want all the people to buy a 12x SLI sytem or 1337 crossfire.
HD TV was realeased in 1995 (NASA).

Disable deffered rending in enblocal.ini and of course all types of antialiasing. For sure you don't know how to configure mod, because for me it don't have big difference with on/off, even when developed earlier for gf9600.
