I'm new to using ENB's so it's possible I've done something wrong (or well, it's pretty likely since it keeps crashing Skyrim for me). I had the game running fine in complete vanilla mode, then proceeded to install the unofficial patches, SKSE and SkyUI, all of that worked fine. Then I tried installing ENB and it crashes every time. Even with nothing but the vanilla files loaded it crashes. I get to the menu, but when I try to load a save or start a new game it goes to the load screen, loads for a few seconds and then crashes.

I'm currently running on windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, Geforce GTX 970 cards (SLi setup), an Intel i7-4790K CPU, and 16 GB Ram. In short, I'm not lacking the power to be able to run it, I just can't get it to actually run.

I've followed the install instructions over here http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#tab=Quickstart on how to install ENB and I'm using this preset http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22056/? (using the v0.2.xx version) and have followed their instructions to the letter. So any advice you lot can give? Or specific pieces of information you need to be able to help me?

It may be worth noting I had that exact ENB preset working before I reinstalled Skyrim (a mod conflicted with another one and since I wasn't that far into the game I found it easier to just start over on a clean install) and I haven't done anything different between installing it then and installing it now (other than getting rid of 150+ mods...)

Also I tried this
Quote:
AS a control, in enblocal.ini I set
UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true
UseDefferedRendering=false

And the game will run with that, but it looks less than amazing, so again, any ideas on where to start the actual trouble-shooting?

PS: This is what my enlocal.ini currently looks like, if it's of any help.

Code:

Crapware=class problem probably. You probably have something that interferes with ENB in your system.
I was fighting the load ctd's when i had GTX 570, and was unable to find a cause. Then i switched to r290, did a clean windows install(well, i was forced to), and suddenly old saves run fine on the old Skyrim install.

I'm on a clean windows install (well about as clean as it gets, 3 days clean and stripped down cause windows insists on throwing in a bunch of excess junk) and I've tried it with everything except my razer drivers turned off (and not running through cortex/game booster with it's FPS overlay, that was my first suspicion), same problem. Would an earlier ENB distro work with a preset meant for the latest version? Cause if so I suppose it's worth trying that to see if it'd solve the issue.

Just installed this RealLike ENB v0.2.xx version. Never thought that finally someone managed to make the game look nice with vanilla textures.

Geforce GTX 870 cards (SLi setup)

Do you mean 970s? Have you tried running ENBSeries without SLI, using injector version?

Set UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics to false, or you will not get any "graphics" from ENBSeries.
Also don't forget to set FixGameBugs (to fix potential problems with grass and underwater), FixSubSurfaceScattering and FixParallaxBugs to true.

UPD1: All right, got CTD multiple times after changing settings, just fixed by reinstalling this ENB preset.
By the way, author forgot to add "/*" right in the beginning of effect.txt (how dumb), so don't forget to fix this issue for yourself.
