Hi All, wondering if someone could help me regarding ICE3.0's DOF

I successfully installed Icenhancer 3.0 on GTA IV 1.0.4.0 - everything worked as it should have - and it looked beautiful, especially with the Brokhe DOF.

Then for some reason, the DOF stops working (apart form an occasional split-second flash of it I see when focusing on an object up close [like the back of a car]). I thought maybe I accidentally changed a file so I reinstalled the game via my backed up files.. still no DOF. I then delete all local content and re-download GTA IV from scratch, successfully downgraded it to 1.0.4.0 and installed Icenhancer 3.0 again. With this fresh install, the Game works beautifully, but still no DOF.

I tried activating the DOF by holding down 1 (not the Numpad) and then holding Page Up (as mentioned somewhere)

I have also tried holding down 7 (not the Numpad) and then holding Page Up / Down - nothing seems to change except for the occasional split-second Flash of DOF I mentioned above.

So my question/s are

Where has my DOF gone?
Is this a known problem?
Is there a DOF setting that requires me to activate it?
If not, is there a single file I could download that will activate Brokhe DOF again?

Any suggestions would be awesome

Icenhancer Version: 3.0 (Patched)
My System Specs:
i5, 16GB Memory, 3TB + 128SSD, Asus Strix GTX970 4GB

Just an update as I have heard from Mr ICEnhancer himself.

Seems this is an issue linked to Maxwell's GPUs. An update is in the works.

I'm on STRIX GTX960 4gb version, and the auto-focusing, dynamic DoF is not working.

I've tried holding down 1 and Page Up/Down, which does seem to enable and disable the DoF, but it still doesn't work. It seems to attempt to auto-focus the DoF constantly, but something prevents it from sticking..

When enabled, the DoF blur effect appears and disappears for a split second every once in a while.

iCEnhancer 3.0, patched, on 1.0.7.0 Steam version.. I really want the auto-focus DoF to work again, by any means necessary, I was utilizing it in video editor to great effect as well.

The DoF also seems to work on other PC with near-identical installation, just older hardware. So, is there an update coming at all?

Also, I have tried to change 1's into 0's and 0's into 1's in the "icenhancer_config" file, but to no avail.. Once I got the blur/DoF "working," but it made everything blurry, even Niko or any centered object..

Anyways, I didn't dare to make a new thread, but help/information would be greatly appreciated.

If something worked with old hardware and not works with new, it's driver bug or game is not the same as it was before (patch). Also shader code may have bug, old nvidia drivers are very loyal to such scenario, but i'm sure amd users let everybody know about issue. And i'm not planning to do anything with gta4 and older gta games, because all attempts to update have no active response from users, so i abandoned development.

If you don't mind clarifying some things however, is the auto-focusing DoF supposed to work, when normally installing iCEnhancer 3.0 with patch, on Steam GTAIV 1.0.7.0 ?

Anyway sad news for me then.. Really wanted the DoF to work on new PC.. Also are You personally the creator of iCEnhancer? On their facebook, he said he liked GTA IV more than V, and I was very happy to hear that because I like IV more too.

It's just very baffling that's all..

The dynamic/auto-focus DoF seemed like a very simple function at its core, yet it's simply not working.. but it had huge impact, I liked it so much.

If only I could add it, enable it, or get it to work somehow... oh, the drudgery.

Is there perhaps any mod/single piece of file that would add this? Anything

I'm not the author of Icenhancer, it's a preset for ENBSeries, which is my mod. Because external shaders were made not by me, i don't know them and why they may fail to work. Mod was developed for patch 1.0.4.0 and below (except latest version which do not have presets), so any fails to downgrade the game or to use with latest version means bugs. Let's split the problem first. If you have dof (you see it), but unable to control it via keys, then it's crapware or OS modify key messages. Otherwise it's driver bug or wrong installation of old patch.

I can see the dof only for split seconds (when activated with via keys) so it feels that I can control it.

If it's wrong installation of old patch, what patch do you refer to? Icenhancer patch, or? I'm just running Steam version.

Although I think it may be because of Win10 OS and a new graphics card. So I also tried disabling NVIDIA Experience, but nope didnt work.

And I may give CryENB a try.. although it should be no different when it comes down to DoF.

That's not right, you must see it almost all the time, otherwise it just means depth data is wrong and you have seen random blurred image.


Downgrade to 1.0.4.0 game patch. Mod do not work with anything above. Google guide with links how to do that.


I do not support anything with win8 and up.
