Re: Fallout 4

Decided to start working on a 4K retexture of the Nuka Cola machine for Fallout for, which is only 1K by default ... hardly befitting of one of the most iconic objects of the Fallout universe!

Re: Fallout 4

Nice Tapioks, I loved your Ojo Bueno pack for New Vegas.

I have a question for you though. I'm currently working on a Mosin Nagant M91 Dragoon:

I'm a little bit confused about the texture maps... Bethesda didn't seem to want to fully follow the standardized PBR format and instead mixed and matched their own version. Do you know exactly what texture maps are supported and which aren't? Also, what .dds format and compression is the norm now? Can't find any consistent info on it anywhere.

Re: Fallout 4

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@ChaosDuck

Creating diffuse textures is basically the same as usual, but creating the normals requires jumping through some hoops. I learned by following this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwRW0GeqGJY

Basically, you need to use the NVIDIA Texture Tools to convert the normal maps from inverted .tga files into 'BC5' format files, which Fallout 4 likes. You can also use the tool to create diffuse maps in the 'BC3' format instead of DXT1 or DXT5, as I understand is a higher quality (less lossy) compression technique, though this is not required.

EDIT: Nice gun model, by the way :)
