Re: TES Skyrim

No beautiful woman for you Boris, but not ivy either.
Does anyone know what could cause the blocky shadows (for instance on his shoulder in the upper shot, or his arm on the lower one)? I've tried different diffuse, specular, normal and sk maps, but I keep getting that. Is it AOAmount related perhaps? I can't remember seeing this before. Might be KAGE related?

I'm starting to appreciate what high contrast, high saturation and good shadows can do, by the way. TOTALLY UNREALISTIC :D

What to look at? I don't see anything "blocky".

Re: TES Skyrim

Close to the shadowy part near the triceps and shoulder. I admit, you need to sit close to your monitor. I'll try to get a better shot of it. Here you go:

It seems the blockiness appears only at the place where shadows should be rendered.

Re: TES Skyrim

This could be artifacts of dxt compression of normal maps. But if it's shadows, turn off everything under [SHADOW] category, blurring of vanilla shadow have direction, so at some angles to the light it's possible (but shouldn't look like that, it must be lines).

Re: TES Skyrim

If it appear only on him, it's probably cause by a poor normal map. But i tought that should be blurred, even with a low res normal map. So it's strange indeed. (Sorry i can't realy help you).
Could it be cause by the quality level of the new shadow? Did you try -1?

Re: TES Skyrim

No, detailed shadows working on geometry, i don't think that arm is created from quads of such small size. Imho it's badly compressed normal map (or recompressed).

Good to know. It makes me remember that I have something to say about that. A glitch or not. I will speak about that in the proper thread.
