Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

Here is a proper demo with before and after pics.

Settings used in "On/Off 1" pictures;
Skylighting on, fixed values.
DirectLightingIntensityInterior=0.0
AmbientColorFilterAmountInterior=1.0
AmbientColorFilterTopInterior=1, 1, 1
AmbientColorFilterMiddleInterior=0, 0, 0
AmbientColorFilterBottomInterior=1, 1, 1
PointLightingIntensityInteriorDay=0.0

Settings used in "On/Off 2" pictures;
Skylighting on, fixed values.
DirectLightingIntensityInterior=1.0
AmbientColorFilterAmountInterior=1.0
AmbientColorFilterTopInterior=1, 1, 1
AmbientColorFilterMiddleInterior=0, 0, 0
AmbientColorFilterBottomInterior=1, 1, 1
PointLightingIntensityInteriorDay=1.0

My two cents, worth having.
That is if it's not too much work, or end up needing to sacrifice some function and/or too much performance to make it "bug free" with the game.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

I don't think it's practical examples of usage with existing presets, which are good (more or less) for interiors. Yours looks like albedo with so much ambient. I don't want to force modders to change their presets.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

It was just too show how big a difference it is when having Skylighting present while using the same settings with it both On and Off.
It wasn't intended as a "pretty" demo of the feature.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

i don't really know what you want. you want to see if characters can look better, but you don't want to force users to change presets. in my eyes those things don't matter, if you can turn the effect on/off in enbseries.ini. characters can look better in my opinion, but with very different values, that are only usable with skylighting active. i didn't make a comparison because values are so different to get something "special" out of skylighting that there is no common baseline.

here is a comparison
i am a bad screenshotter... and i dont have nice models or anything that could show all the goodies, i think others could do better...

skylighting off low ambient(ambient and other things set to "normal", meaning low, like normal preset can look like)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/130088884 ... ed-public/
skylighting on high ambient(values like in my other post)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/130088884 ... ed-public/
skylighting off high ambient(same values as above)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/130088884 ... ed-public/
skylighting on very high ambient(about double values, more SSAO)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/130088884 ... ed-public/

last one, the top of stairs is off because of effect not using some sources i think. there should be directlight from window on left wall. just for info, because it looks weird.
also i had to reposition camera a bit, because the effect switches on/off in certain positions.
the shot maybe exagerated in terms of lighting, but that is the direction you could go with skylighting. other people may have other ideas.

btw. i don't think any other "test version" of binaries with any other effect would have more interest/downloads. i think it would be the same whatever the effect is. just my opinion.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

May be you right, it's too late and skyrim don't need any more enb.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

I don't know if it's just me, but I just downloaded the v0305 ENB series and there's no D3D9.DLL file in it?

EDIT: NM... stupid dll was blocked on unzip. :P

Boris

If you want to retire Skyrim ENB devlopment, that's completely understandable. You've done so much for this game and community already.

But if you have ideas and want to keep evolving Skyrim ENBs, I think it's worth pursuing.

Don't base a test file download count (which I DLed as well just didn't have time to actually test) in a single forum as a lack of interest in your development.

Take Dusk/Dawn parameters for instance. They radically change how smooth time of day transitions are for presets.

There's a whole new year of scrubs getting the game for the first time or old players coming back to bring Skyrim into 2016 with ENBseries.

People don't say it enough, but thank you. I'm not good at Skyrim modding but at least I know my way around that enbseries ini :P.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

i completely agree with slothability.
but the last one is a lie! "I'm not good at Skyrim modding" ;P

i mean skylighting is a buggy thing, is it worth the effort? you decide. i think it is, if the effort is in relation. it is definately a thing worth having. but the bugs and mod variables... i feel with you.
i mean, don't do it for ENB Authors. There are few who come here and show interest. But actual Skyrim players... man, that game is still played a LOT. and the modding of it hasn't stopped a bit!
but than again modding of FO3/NV or Oblivion hasn't stopped either :).
dawn/dusk was easy enough to implement, with huge impact. those things are golden in terms of development and for users. and thank you for that!

my feeling is, if that engine wasn't as buggy, things would be a lot different. sometimes i wish bethesda would just give you their fucked up source. they should do so for TES 6! no, honestly, i am not even kidding.

Re: TES Skyrim 0.305

I think a big part of all people still playing skyrim do it because of ENB, because of you Boris. And only a very small part of all people are reading this forum, or anticipating actively. (what you logically can see from the download rates of your enb files) ^^

This skylighting looks awesome! I could not try it out more than 5 min yet due to moving to another appartment (with yet no internet)

Think so too. If you look at the .ini files of skyrim. how many lines do not work at all (despite making any sense to tweak) since they were ported from earlier TES or Fallout Games?
