Hmm additional yes standalone nope and additional it adds to much overhead.
Unless I misunderstood what you meant, I'm gonna have to disagree. In my presets, ENB's standalone SSAO/SSIL was a MASSIVE improvement over vanilla. And I turn off the vanilla SSAO/HBAO+.
Perhaps you thought I meant SSIL by itself without SSAO. I didn't actually mean that. I simply meant that SSIL was a big jump because it's not in the vanilla game. Obviously you need to enable ENB SSAO at the same time.
I may sound as a fanboy, but according to my experience, and my eyes, nothing compares to ENB's SSAO/SSIL.
Its only addition is an instantaneous visual jump ahead.
Period.

Maybe stuff has changed maybe my look at it was flawed due to the version or Driver i will redo it surely but for me i could get only get SSIL + HBAO+ to generate acceptable results but that would meant almost double the overhead that was actually unacceptable at that time.
For me the overhead of Bors SSAO pure default was at around 8 ms that's a lot of render time overhead but acceptable if it would work every situation flawless (unscientifically measured on the presentation output).
Im pretty sure Boris would do some magic if he had acess to the damn Engine Source

There was an update to the 0.307 binary where Boris didn't do a version number change. It's possible that you missed it since the version number is the same. It improved some issues that the initial release with SSAO/SSIL had.
Even though I have no issue with Boris' SSAO/SSLI ini the Conversation Camera, if I did, the Conversation Camera not looking as nice as environmental effects is in my opinion a worthwhile tradeoff for SSIL.
With all that said, the Conversation Camera is not really even relevant to SSE, so it's a non-issue in this game.
I use SLI 970s. I get JUST under 60 FPS at 1440p with one gpu working since SLI isn't really working for SSE. I imagine it would be in the 30s for something like an RX470/480. On the one hand, it's irritating the way developers use proprietary gameworks BS that handicaps AMD cards, but AMD could just as easily do the same to even the playing field but they don't
The Problem is Nvidia users have a visble benefit with it especially when the crepuscular rays hit other mesh objects the higher tessellation helps
But that tessellated geometry shader approach is still questionable overall.
Especialy at that insanely high Quality Levels you can dial up
Though of course everythin is so calculated that you need some Power for it so in the End even Nvidia users can be hit heavily by it even in Scenes they wouldn't expect it at all

That's not the only problem of it due to the Volumetric Part it can happen even in Scenes you wouldn't expect it at all but that is most probably a Bethesda implementation fault
That whole thing even fucked up the Console PS4 Version Performance of the Far Harbour DLC in the beginning so Bethesda had to Dial it back their or Sony and Microsoft would have jumped on their Heads
How it killed the Performance was pretty crazy to see in Motion, even crazier was how careless this could have happened at all internally being released this way with a possibility not even understanding technically the implications of what they implemented their.
Which then Basically means Nvidia Puppets.
Btw what happened to the Sr Technical Artist Fellow of Bethesda after release

Having not touched Skyrim since Feb 2016. After firing up Skyrim SE and then my ENB preset from Skyrim. My god, why are we even asking for a re-do?
I couldn't be happier with my ENB preset in old Skyrim! The new SE version really doesn't add anything useful that ENB doesn't already do accept maybe the native 64bit executable. But from my understanding that might not of even been implemented without issues. So really, what is left? A new Skyrim with some new half baked sub-par quality effects? Most of which ENB already does better in it's current version.
Help me understand everyone, what is the main reason you would want to play Skyrim SE over Skyrim?
For me it's just for fun. Perhaps due to words people/we use such as bad, total disaster etc. make things look like too serious but it's not in fact. And i'm agreeing what you said about SE and the old Skyrim. SE doesn't add anything and look same crap as Skyrim by default. I'm not sure also it will be popular same as before by ENB modders too. It's 6 years old game after all and and consumed everything in it by players and modders. There is nothing left in it to make people sparkle again. I'd like to keep having fun with SE version cause I'd expected to have less crashes at least but somehow I keep getting more crashes than even old Skyrim. But not a big surprise cause it's Bethesda after all.
weird, I have far less crashes, runs smoother and so far pretty enjoyable.
